Hi Guys
Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this curly problem I have with a Qantas credit, very similar to this thread:-
Qantas Award Credit Card Refund Advice Warning
I have a credit with Qantas for around $2200, of which I'll lose $600 as per the fare rules if I cancel and request a refund. As per the previous thread I no longer have the credit card I used to book the flight, this was cancelled around 6 months ago. What makes matters more tricky is I no longer live in Australia and won't be back for several years. I'm not sure of their current policy re Stat Decs, but this seems kinda irrelevant as I'm not in Australia and as far as I'm aware its impossible to get one outside Australia anyway.
I spoke to a consultant today who stated that the money would go back to the original card no matter what and all I had to do was get in touch with the original bank and they could send me a cheque (or something). As I no longer have any Aussie bank accounts I'm not sure what I could do with a cheque
So it seems I'm stuck. I could really do with the $1600 back but it looks like my only option is to keep booking a flight when the credit is due to run out, then cancel the flight back to another credit for another 12 months until i return to Australia and can finally use the credit. Anyone have any thoughts on any other resolutions?
Many thanks
BG
