Qantas Club Dress Standards...Stubbies, singlet and thongs....What the???

I think Qantas have made a great decision for drawing a line. It's also a great decision because of the theatre of people being rejected at the club and the whinging in this thread.

Love KP calling thongs an australian institution. Another Australian institution is naming people who are up themselves. Must have been a great shock for KP to realise he isn't important enough for a personal, gold embossed lettter about the lounge dress code signed by Alan Joyce.

Because a well dressed woman wearing dressy sandals shouldnt be banned?
I was let in the front door without a problem on more than one occassion, then questioned as though I had done the wrong thing. That's not cool.
Sounds like a problem with the enforcement rather than the rule.

Who says "well dressed = wearing sandals"? Playing Devil's Advocate I know but it seems reasonably clear to me.

Since I almost never have shoes with me on trips, it's a major hassle for me. I'd have to make room for shoes in my one carry-on bag, meaning I'd need to leave something else out. Then I'd need to change into them before entering the club, and change back after leaving
I'm not aware of the circumstances behind your decision but surely now you know you can wear the appropriate shoes. A pair of sandals or thongs/flip flops aren't too difficult to pack.

Not me. I said well dressed AND wearing sandals. Elegant sandals are the perfect match for many summer dresses. I wear them to work so they don't suddenly become inappropriate just because QF said so.

I didn't enjoy sitting next to this suited monstrosity who proceeded to pick at rough flaps of skin, dropping the resultant skin peel on the floor, and showering me with toe snow as he shook out his socks prior to replacing his shoes for landing. Apologies for the blurred picture (although probably best to blank out the disgusting bits)

I like that he was a "platinum first class" flyer when it's clear he was in business, and QF don't have F from JNB. He was probably upset he wasn't flying F too

In regard to Hi Vis gear, whilst wearing the rig is not necessarily offensive or an indication of behaviour (although there have been a number of posts about the latter), it is an indication to me that the wearer of the Hi Vis has just walked off the last 12 hour shift of probably 14 12 hour shifts in a row, and having just left a dusty mine site, power station, engineering workshop or similar and is about to commence one or more flights in cramped conditions with 100+ others onboard. They may not bother some. It does bother me.

I do agree that if someone has just come off a site and is dirty, then they should probably change their clothes at the first opportunity, which is likely in the lounge. That being said, 50% of people in Hi Vis are also likely to be on their way to the site, so their clothes would be clean.

No, they just become outside of their dress code.

Nobody is debating that. The dress code is pretty clear. Doesn't make the dress code any less silly in some ways.
Straight out debating it? Yes they are. Some are arguing that it shouldn't be the case or that exceptions should be made. I think that can be construed as debating it.

I suggest you read that again. People know what the rules are. Doesn't mean that they can't debate whether the rules are a good thing or not.
