Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Red Roo, can we get a response on the disappearance of the JFK services?

Only once I have received my response (waiting and waiting patiently RedRoo) to the disappearance of the JNB services! :)

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Guys do you get chauffer drive on point redemptions ?
How about if it was a point redemption on an EK flight (with EK flight number) ?
Will someone from EK contact me once its booked or would I have to chase it up ?

Thanks

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Yes you will get it on points redemption. If you have booked an EK flight using QFF points go to the EK site and to the manage booking link and enter in your PNR

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Perplexed! Partner and me are on a fully paid return J class fares with QF/EK to Europe. The return leg is BA PAR/LHR, direct same day connection QF LHR/DXB with a stopover in DXB before heading back to SYD. QF tell me that we don't qualify for the chauffeur ex CDG as its a BA flight, but if I was to board in LHR, would qualify in LHR (which I am not taking)....work that out!! It was QF's recommended connection with BA/QF via LHR, rather than EK CDG/DXB nonstop. an anyone follow that logic?

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Am I going mad? I'm sure I saw, a couple of weeks ago, that chauffeur drive was offered in BKK to Bus and First pax. Didn't dream it, as I went to Googlemaps and looked up the distance between BKK and Hilton on the Chao Praya river. It was 25km, the max distance allowed for chauffeur drive. Can't find it now. Can anyone enlighten me please?

Yes, I follow the logic, as transfers are only provided for specified QF / EK flights. I had the same issue departing Barcelona in May. I arrived in BCN on an EK service (QF flight number) and so had a transfer provided, but departed with BA to LHR to connect with QF 10, so did not.

When I booked the flights I had the choice to fly direct BCN-DXB with EK (which would have included the transfer) then onwards with QF, or the BCN-LHR-DXB-MEL routing which did not. I chose to travel via LHR as flight timings and other options suited me better, but knew I would not get the limo pick-up before I made my reservation.

I also knew that if I was stopping over in LHR on the way home rather than transferring I would be eligible for the service. Makes sense to me.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Thanks for your info tallboy. I can see your logic too, but if we had both boarded the QF flights in LHR then we would have got a chaffuer in LHR. But as we board elsewhere, they save that cost. Oh well!

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Haven't read all 247 posts - please forgive me if this has been posted before.

We've booked flights that qualify for 4 x chauffeur trips.....4 passengers in total, 3 aged over 12. Therefore, as I understand and has been confirmed by QFF we qualify for three cars per sector.

Pretty ridiculous considering we are a family of 4 with two kids aged 12 & 10. Rang QFF and they advised that we couldn't do anything other than book the 3 cars on-line and wait until T-48 to sort the finer details of the arrangements.

How p$ss poor is this! Why introduce a premium service that has no flexibility, no contact other than on-line and a leave it till a 48th (or less) hour attitude of sorting the details:confused:

Explained all to the phone agent.....sorry, we can't help - you need to book on-line & sort it out at the last minute........what a joke.

Trying to assist QFF here.....we would like one van rather than 3 cars......jeez!

Yes, QF only provides chauffeur drive in certain cities. Paris is not one of them, but London is.

What they've told you is correct. And there is flexibility (especially in regards to timing of pick-up), but this only becomes possible 48 or 72 hours prior to the flight. I agree it would be easier for you to be able to put in these requests online, but that's not how the system works.

The chauffeur company will phone you two or three days prior and are quite happy to vary the arrangements at that point. (N.B. - it's the chauffeur company that calls, not QF). At the Australian end, the company is Brunel Worldwide.

The problem with leaving it to the last minute is I'm 40km outside the generous 60km zone........we live on the Sunshine Coast.

If I'm stuck with three cars @ $2.80 x 40km x 3 cars x 2 trips it's going to cost me $672 for a service I can arrange myself traveling in a Merc van for a return trip cost of $320.

Premium products should have premium flexibility.....otherwise it's just a painful process that fails to deliver.

Brunel? So I should be able to earn Velocity points on the transfer?:cool:

You do not have to book the three cars if you don't want to. You can just book for two by not booking a car for the third eligible passenger. But I understand the problem with the excess Kms.

Also be careful when there is more than one drop off to the one address on the return journey. Coming back from overseas we received no call from Brunel to confirm ( unlike outward trip) and they only sent one car to Brisbane airport rather than the two ordered. They assumed we would only need one. As it was two people to the one address. They quickly sent another when we spoke to driver at baggage collection point. We had children travelling in economy that utilised the addition seats in the two cars.

We are also hoping to do a similar thing. 2 seats J, 2 children Y. Hoping the Y passengers can fit in the 2 J chauffeur cars!

That's where the luggage limit becomes restrictive......SWMBO and daughter would easily fill three cars:shock:

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

I'm gonna try this out for a flight to LAX in First on Saturday.

I've got 2 suitcases, and my friend does too, I'm not sure how it would work, as he wants to come with me, but 2 pax with a total of 4 bags, will be interesting. (he is in Y)

Seems you might be in the clear... the T&Cs for CBR don't specify a passenger or luggage capacity limit (unlike other locations). Mileage Limits Chauffeur Drive | Qantas
