Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Just realised it will cost me $336 to get to SYD from my house
Think I might stick with the hire car :D

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Just wondering if anyone has been lucky enough to use the LAX service...

1. which company and what type of car?
2. Any calls? how do you make contact? name cards?
3. over 40 miles is always ok? just pay at the end of the trip?
4. would this be available if using points to upgrade (given it will be last minute approval).

Thanks for your advice/experience :)

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

btw, when do they call you? I've got a flight early saturday morning and they still haven't called yet.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Just arrived home from New York to Melbourne flying QF 108/94...Emailed Brunel on Sunday and had an almost immediate reply as we had 5 suitcases and requested a people mover...This was confirmed and our driver was waiting for us as we exited Customs on Wednesday and we were on our way 30 minutes after landing...Brilliant !!...Well done Qantas:)

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Getting picked up by Royale Limos in Canberra, apparently the guy has a brand new Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Was hoping for something a bit more posh (flying First), but then again, its free, so can't complain :p

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Would that include for a Monday morning pickup? So a call on Sunday. Or would they likely call on Saturday?

Sorry. Can't give a definitive answer on this one. Have not had a Monday morning departure. Was hoping someone else had. You could always call and check the process in whichever city is your departure point.

Just wondering how you established email contact with Brunel, as my experience was that the only contact I received was a call about 36 hours pre-departure from MEL, but no email address supplied by either QF or the car company at any stage. I was thinking that email contact could be useful for many people on departure also, especially if they have special requests or wish to vary the pick-up time, rather than waiting for the company to call.

If this is not tongue in cheek - what a joke!

pyffii may have used a different mode of contact - but here is the webpage and general email for reservations:

lol, he was making it out as though it was awesome. I'm not fussed though, as long as it gets me and my friend (who's flying Y), and our 3 suitcases in total to the airport, its fine.

(It's a 15 minute drive to the airport), at 6am, I'll still be half asleep

Goes back to what I was saying about premium service.......if you are going to do it (or in this case - forced to do it by the superior partner) do it well or just don't bother!

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Entitlements seem to be a bit haphazard. I'm apparently entitled to a chauffeur for a flight from PER to MEL connecting to a MEL-LAX flight the following day (overnighting in MEL). They'll even to a transfer in MEL even though I'm only overnighting. I wonder if that'll work for the Airport HI to the terminal.

However no entitlement on the return journey from SYD-PER connecting to a LAX-SYD flight. Nothing for JFK-LAX (a few days in LAX before the flight to SYD).

err, if you are flying LAX-SYD-PER you don't need a car at SYD, you'll be on the tarmac bus! And I believe JFK is being added to the chauffeur drive system at some point next year.

Ha! Not what I would have expected from the Chauffeur Drive service, but my regular silver cab guy in Sydney has one, and it's not terrible... would prefer the Caprice he had beforehand, but he's a nice reliable guy, so stuck with him anyways. It's ok.

Cheers.

err, I know that. But what about PER on the return journey? If they offer me a ride on the way out, why not the reverse.

'Royale Limos' eh, lol, but if he gets you to the church, I mean airport, on time and it costs you nought, then all is well. Cheaper than Canberra Cabs.

Have a great flight.

Yeah, I rented one when I was in Hobart a couple of months ago. Goes alright, and is overall a fairly nice car.

Exactly, I really don't care how I get to the airport, as long as it is fairly warm (its prob gonna be like -3 degrees tonight as usual in Canberra), and it gets me there on time. I'm sure the Camry will be ok (doesn't hold a candle to the BMW 7 Series shown in the Chauffeur drive marketing material though :p

Flight in J to SYD, then FLounging for 4 hours with a booked massage before QF11 in F, Tomorrow, the Camry Hybrid will be the least of my worries :p

(My 3rd time in F on the A380. Looking forward to being able to stretch out when I sleep (205cm and 180kg)
