Qantas business class seat DROOP

IMHO the NZ seat has its own flaws - specially if you have long legs. Just sayin'
I keep hearing this. I am pretty tall with very long legs and love this seat! Although i guess due to often over hanging beds in hotels i have gotten used to sleeping curled up which might help?

I think it's F

I had the displeasure of a horribly drooping seat recently. It was VH-OQA seat 11K. I was honestly worried I would wake up with a bad back. When I connected onto EK404 in F, I noticed that the seat also had a bit of a droop. I really do think that it is this type of seating. Its years of use causes the droop. Whereas seats that use an ottoman or a stool at the end seem to be okay.

It is for this reason that I actually prefer the Skybed Mk I. Not once have I ever experienced an uncomfortable bend in the seat. Yes it is not fully flat. But at least every time I have been in it it has been flat!

Here is a solution to the Skybed droop according to an ex A380 CSM

skybed droop is easily fixed. You need to bring seat back up then start again, but don't use the lay down button. You will be able to make it into a flat position. It droops sometimes when it is in the full base position, but there is a spot just before this point it will stay perfectly flat

How long before they upgrade the J cabin on the A380s to the suites they are installing on the A330s?
It seems odd to have an inferior business hard product on their flagship aircraft on their longest routes.

Good question, but even if they announced it today, it would be years before you could reliably get on an A380 with an upgraded product.

The airline that takes the cake in this regard would have to be Lufthansa - launched their A380 fleet with angled beds in J and then (almost) immediately started an upgrade program to match their 777 (I think) product.

You can cure droop with a prescription nowadays. J droop is more pronounced than Y droop .......in this case

Mods delete my post please :D

I wonder if they need to make some seats more "couple friendly" than the current A330 J configuration?

LOL ROTFL fantastic timing

Yes!! I flew MEL-LAX last month and it's been quite a while since I flew long haul J. After fiddling around with the seat I think I did exactly that .

I think QF renovated their A380 soon after delivery as well. ?? rejigged the ratios F, J, PE, Y?

I prefer "enhanced" the config.

I would expect the 380 to get a refurb at the same time as the 787s are brought into service, probably with a v2 business suite.

What they do with first class will be more interesting

Ah the droop... I've tried and managed quite successfully to avoid QF A380 J for a while.

When MKII was new product it was great, I loved it. Over the years it became more and more uncomfortable in what supposed to be fully flat position.

Have a long haul J trip in a few months. Not looking forward to any droops.
Would it generally be the aisle seats that have this? Or do all seats suffer from this?

I think It's random. Though some have suggested it's more common for seats like C that are adjacent to window seats due to people stepping on seats in fully flat config. I have also personally had droopy seats in E,F upstairs in A380 which are not adjacent to window seats. I think it's due to the lie flat button not being calibrated properly. See above for method to correct droop

Flew A380 J recently and had the dreaded droop. What I found interesting was that there was a number of passengers with the issue, and the flight attendants were well versed on it. They studiously went around helping people prop their legs up as if nothing was wrong. According to the attendant I spoke to it is now very common in the older A380s.

So whats going on here? If it is not just an isolated issue, how is it that Qantas can get away with selling a "Fully-flat bed" that actually isn't? Under Australian Consumer Law that's called a Misleading claim or representation....

Oh and the manual control fix suggested in this thread doesn't actually work. All it does is reduce the amount of extension in the leg zone, which in turn reduces the droop. If you are tall and need the full leg extension then it doesn't matter whether you use the lie flat button or the manual controls.... the droop is the same either way. Trust me, I spent a good long time fiddling around with this trying to actually get a decent nights sleep.
