Not an in-flight meal, but this post reminded me of the fresh sausage rolls being served for dinner in the BNE dom J lounge recently. Have been quite impressed with them.
They (the SRs) were available for lunch there last Sunday, alongside some pies. Definitely "handmade" - the "chef" was in the corner of the lounge rolling them out ...

Regards,

BD

I still don’t understand the difference between Pumkin and sweet potato.

Taste completely different to me, could tell them apart easily in any taste test and both good options imo.

I dislike it when one of the standard options is vegetarian or vegan, as that leaves fewer choices. If you want vegan order a special meal.

It isn't a requirement to eat meat at every meal, every day. You will survive.

If im paying for a J ticket, Qantas should provide proper animal protein. Vegan / Vegetarian is a side dish. When 1 of the 2 choices is vego and the meat runs out by row one i think its unacceptable.

To keep blood sugars balanced and prevent muscle loss im supposed to have 20-30g of protein at each main meal. Vegan meals are incomplete proteins and mostly carbs.

You have clearly demonstrated how little you know about protein and its sources. Your diet is your choice though and I respect that.

I'll agree with this, in the context of non-home made vegan meals.

No, i know what proteins work best whilst allowing me to meet my macro and calorie goals.

Animal proteins have no carbs, plant proteins all come with a hefty carb component. To get enough complete protein from vegan sources would require combining foods in ways that significantly exceed the amount of carbs i can have.

Plus meat is delicious, no veggie can compare with a good steak.

The fix for Qantas is simple, bring back the ability to pre-order meals. Then everyone can get a meat based meal if they want it, and they can also reduce waste.

With J ticket prices they can easily afford to cater meat options for all J seats, no one should be left with only a vegan option unless they chose to pre-order the vegan option.
