Ah the good old (1,2-dithiolane-4-carboxylic acid) leads to lovely sulphur metabolites such cough methanethiol, dimethyl sulfide, and dimethyl sulfoxide. Lovely chemistry in action!

Remember some people have "asparagus anosmia," a genetic inability to detect the odor, while others may not produce the compound at all.
