Qantas Business Class meals & menus

MEL-SYD lunch time flight: Absolutely delightful crew and food quite decent, choice of Ravioli (which I had) and some vile sounding chicken salad with… Pumkin :eek: 🤢 😬 . Ravioli was somewhat spoilt by these god awful fizzly Spinach leaves but otherwise rather tasty.

Really good red from the Coonawarra, followed by two cheeky mini bottles of the Starward whiskie which I find as good or better than many proper Scotch whiskies. The crew even snug another bottle into my paper cup upon landing, long after the captain had instructed the crew to prepare the cabin for landing- now that’s what I call a good crew! ;)
You despise it so much, you refuse to spell it correctly such is your disdain for this vegetable.

Good flight with lovely CSM David. Barramundi was the the highlight of the meal. Qantas generally seem to do fish well on J/F menus. Didn't have the 2nd pre-arrival meal. Wine's were OK, and settled with a 2024 MMAD Chenin Blanc from SA. Retails on Qantas Wine for about $50.

Chocolate ganache - too sweet for my liking could only finish half of it. Tasted more like cream than anything else.
 
Brekky choice SYD-MEL of a mushroom omelette or bacon quiche. Went with the bacon quiche which was almost the same as the sweet pasty, but three times the size. It was filled with about 1/3 bacon and quite tasty. Came with slow roasted tomatoes and deconstructed Neil’s leaves. On the side, sourdough, butter and jam. Oh, plus fruit yoghurt.

Was watching Family Guy so ordered the Lois sparkling… delivered with a napkin collar!

I’ve had that before… it’s surprisingly good! (although as I was the last passenger to be served they offered me that as well as some fritters… not sure it would be filling enough on its own)
I agree, not a bad feed! Although I was well satiated from the lounge, as it is normally the case.
 
Choice of Antipasto plate or a spinach and ricotta flan on ADL-MEL this evening. Antipasto plate was nice (went well with the Albariño) but I feel like a flight departing at 7pm should have a meat dish as the hot option - a flan is lunchtime food, not dinner.
 
SYD-AKL 17:00 flight. There was a small printed menu but I didn't snap. From memory choices were an Asian-style chicken with rice, or a braised beef with potatoes.

Food itself was fine - chicken tasty and tender. The potato salad (under the salmon) quite delicious. Good service.

But some disappointments:
- No pre-meal drink service; just an order taken with the meal preference.
- Y had 3 options (including a vegetarian option) which a pax across the aisle ended up getting.
- Everything was on the tray at once (including ice cream which I swapped off the tray for my drink off the console). Quite awkward.

Really no excuse on a flight of this length to still persist with this style of service. Flight had a few empty J seats as well.

Agree, though there is literally no competition on most Trans-Tasman routes which doesn't put much pressure/incentive on them to do better. Most Trans-Tasman routes have even less competition than domestic flights these days. I wonder if NZ has ever regretted doing away with J on these sectors.
