Qantas Business Class meals & menus

08/03/26 WEL - SYD QF 164
Paper menu provided but given there was only a choice of mains it served little purpose.
I had the very dry chicken. The alternative was vegetarian baked pasta and veggies. The meal was overcooked and would have rated a 5/10 if it was served by a Coles cafeteria (if they still exist). White wine was maybe one degree below room temperature. Typically under whelming, but the chocolate was good !

QF172 8/3/26 The WLG-MEL version :) - looks identical @CMA222 But contrasting to MEL-WLG 2 days prior - unlike that flight, there was Champagne PDB and a menu. (Plus, the safety video was new version on this flight, Vs old on the other one - on the same plane, according to Flighty).

Chook - yes it was a bit dry, but not too bad. Only Chardy as a white wine (ridiculous - international! Rose is not a white wine) so I stuck with Champers.

QF 1297 MEL-HBA 20:25-21:45.

This was described as a 'cheese plate' but better as a ploughman's plate, I think. It was good for the time of the flight. And extra points awarded for them having a SA Riesling! Bread roll offered but not taken.

It was an attempt at a fried egg in a muffin. I think the baggage handlers made it

And then dropped a bag on top of it.

QF26 HND-SYD Sunday 8/3, nice flight with very friendly crew. Of note, the first class lounge at Haneda now opens at 5.30am so there was time for a proper lounge visit. Last time it was 6am.

Pics only of lunch sorry.

Overall food quality/taste was average, variety and quality of wine nice (even though as I was being poured an Adelaide Hills Gruner Veltliner I was told it was a McLaren Vale Riesling?).

Ironically flew out to Japan in Jetstar J BNE-KIX and found the food to be much better and drinks more proactively offered by crew.

QF139 SYD-CHC* scheduled for 18:55 dep but delayed (quite a bit due to a very late arrival of the inbound and some snafu with an oven?).

PDB offered before take off. Not sure if the “Champagne” was real or sparkling but was quite drinkable.

FA was advised of possible further turbulence so delayed the main meal a little bit and offered a pre dinner drinks service - imbued a G&T.

Menu for dinner service.

There was a lot going on on the tray! I went for the pasta and texturally it was like a pasta bake (not surprisingly) but was a decent flavour.

Separate Icecream service.

Wine kept flowing!

*wrong island, city and timing to make the AFF gathering!

They simply ran out of cheese and so threw anything they could think of on that plate 😂

While I generally loath Qantas’ underwhelming Trans Tasman service, in this case I must take their side, especially in light of the competition: I take that one (probably relatively decent, knowing Qantas) Chardonnay over the six or seven different dirt cheap wines that Air NZ serves any day. But in any case, champagne is always the better option (and therefore typically runs out before the end of the flight, on both Qantas and Air NZ).
