Qantas Brisbane Domestic Business Lounge

As I've said before, I'm hugely unimpressed with the BNE J lounge (perhaps it's designed to cater for the good folk of Gympie and surrounding areas).

Whenever I'm in BNE I'll go to the J lounge to see what's on offer, and usually, shortly afterwards, go to the Club lounge, which is always completely packed, but does offer self service wine which I appreciate.

BNE is the only Qantas J lounge that I know of that doesn't offer self service wines. Why is that, I wonder (rhetorical question).
Class! LOL. :) ::)

Is it still the case? I’m on a 9:30pm QF departure BNE-MEL soon.

The current answer is that "The Oven" closes at 7:30pm. As does the second bar service area.

Offerings from "The Oven" might run out sooner. Yesterday, they had run out of the chicken pie choice sometime before 6:30pm. But the other items were still available.

The oven was used to cook(?) and keep hot, chicken pieces that the server used to create the tacos.

The tacos were quite good:

I wonder what salad did to upset spinach and whether they will ever get back together? 😜

Salad was (un)dressed by Neil Perry?

The ex-cantina area today had updated signage calling it "The Bakery". Served quite a nice sausage roll, however the quiche was a little doughy.

Not sure if this is a permanent change.

This might explain why this bakery was cleaned up closed when I got there just after 6pm last Sat. QC was closed and the J lounge was full of families with kids (a lot of kids).

Damn I’m there on a Wednesday night…. The Bakery sounds like my kind of place space
Jokes I’ll be in 2A So hey I’ll go take a sticky beak

After seeing @serfty pics, I expect you found it wasn't worth the bother on your Wed visit either. School holidays over so no ravenous children to polish it all off. 😄

yet to get to brissy

Might cancel the trip as a result of the underwhelming offering jokes

More likely cause of the ashes and the sold out hotels running nightly prices to “untold thousands”

I was there 3 times last week and the options were the same. The pastry was tough on the sausage rolls (filo?), they had little flavour and the quiche wasn't quiche. It was dried out frittata in pastry, unfortunately. I do really like the concept and hope they explore more/better options in the future

From Beetoota Advocate:
As many Old Town Roadhouse regulars already know, walking into a service station to the smell of a reheated 4-day-old sausage roll immediately makes a weary traveller feel at home. The phenomenon has remained a mystery to truckies and Grey Nomads, until now.
