I mistakenly signed up for a pile of their lies a few years ago. Called them on their lies, and demanded a refund. Got it. Never touched them again, will actually go so far as to avoid their properties. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!

There is a 21 day cooling off period, so you can return the collateral unused and they'll refund.

Interesting comment as it is so very easy to get way more value from there scheme than the cost of the program.

While it is a good product, the marketing of it leaves much to be desired. I can easily see why people that were misled by the marketing would be wary of using the product.

My problem is that I have a max of about 30 room nights a year - for me the status breakfasts at Hilton rock - so PC hotels only get a look in at locations where there are no Hiltons.

So I have the MAQ card with it's $99 night and 20% PC discount.

This means it's unlikely I'll be staying at an intercontinental in Oz in the next year or three - I am led to believe the using a BOGO at an Intercontinental hotel is the sweet spot with PP.

FWIW, over the last year or two I have twice been offered referrals to Royal Ambassador by separate people; in both cases I have politly stressed that I really appreciated the offer but felt I needed to decline as it was unlikely to ever make use of any of the benefits.

I had a call from these jokers yesterday. I figured it was worth resurfacing the thread as a warning to anyone else in the same situation.

My 1 year long membership lapsed in June. I had a great run, used almost all the benefits and gave the rest away. I knew I wouldn't be making the most of it this year, so didn't renew - despite the 3-4 phone calls around renewal time.

Received a call out of the blue yesterday, offering the world - including lots of emails, foundation member status, a free 2 night voucher, club access all around, and an apparent coughload more for the $299. I was never going to make a decision on the spot (despite the sales guys wishes) but I was definitely interested in the apparent benefits, and suggested that if he could send me an email with the additional benefits on offer, I'd consider that night, and he could call me back tomorrow.

That was met with mild resistance to start - 'What of the benefits aren't clear or don't you understand'? It got to the point where I just said 'I'm interested. But I won't buy now, so unless you put them in writing to me by email, I won't be.' At that point the guy just hung up!

So essentially, the PP sales guys would rather lose a sale than have to put their supposed extra offers down in writing - the only conclusion it's possible to draw from this is because they won't actually deliver on the promises being made.

Just renewed on-line. Was intending to anyway because I had ended up in front over the year. As well as the BOGO's and discounts, Mrs SFSC and myself are leisure travellers and the two of us usually travel together making dining reasonably priced for us.

Had received an e-mail offering an $100 Complimentary dining experience so will be interesting to see what turns up in the pack.

I also decided not to renew this year, though decided I would if the half price sign-up offer came through that some received on here earlier in the year.

The joker I had phone me several weeks back offered much the same as yours, plus even promised that the dining benefits would work world wide after I explained I was mostly expecting to be having overseas stays rather than domestic as one reason why I didn't want to renew. It was at the point of the promised global benefits that I had enough and hung up.

MY experience working for one of those business to business sales companies working only for commission is that even when one guy fraudulently signed up a customer and was reported to the boss, the boss told the customer that he would be fired. One week later, I see him in the training room again and well, they didn't fire him. The money they were making from his lies was too good to let go. Firing the person should never be an outcome that we should be happy with as quite often it won't even happen.

The fact that we haven't heard back from Franky, I would assume the salesperson in question is still making calls right this moment.

The guy promised me a free night certificate for the IC Sydney. Of course it wasn't included in the pack and I canceled straight away and got a refund.
Good idea to insist on everything in writing.

I used my $100 dining certificate this evening. Total bill was $130 so became $30 which will be covered by a $50 hotel certificate I'll use at checkout.

If you are able to get past their dreadful sales staff the program really does pay for itself. With limited stays this year (I mainly use Hilton) I have gained well in excess of $1000 value this year.

Yes Bill , this card ranks behind our 2 Perth Club at the Hyatt cards and saves that sort of money each year when we are in Sydney.
Now the sales people have all the tact of grey nurse sharks.

Received my PP renewal pack today.
promised extra 2 months...... Didn't happen.
promised extra 2 for 1 voucher....... Not in the pack
promised foundation member on card (whatever that means).... Nope!
promised club access at intercontinental melb (knew that wasn't going to happen)
promised $130 rate at holiday inns Melbourne anytime. (Not going to hold my breath)
Now I have to wait till business hours tomorrow to see if I am able to get any of these lies fixed.
will be cancelling otherwise.
