Thanks for the alert! Checked IC PER availability a couple of hours ago - all good. Just went back in and the hotel has been removed from the Point Breaks list - damn!!

PB Hotels are still bookable at the special rate up to two days after they go off-list, just use the normal booking site and select reward nites.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

thanks for the tip! Sadly I have to wait til my points from Amex transfer over (and I am not hopeful it will happen in a hurry given we are a couple of hours away from a long weekend in Sydney!). Still, I shall keep everything crossed :)

You can also do an instant purchase for points, 20K for USD$233, that makes 4 nights at burswood for $75 a night!

I booked a night at the IC Burswood over Xmas for 5000 points today. While it was off the list, it was returning availability just searching for reward nights.

Do you have to do anything special to be notified when these PB specials become available? I'm a Priority Club member (second bottom tier) and didn't receive any email.

They are not advised to members - although, they have once or twice previously.

There are several ways to be notified:
- Check the Pointsbreak page frequently.
- Read forums like this one, or the PC one at Flyertalk.
- Use a "page changed" service on the Internet, which monitors a webpage looking for changes, and alerts when they occur.

Thanks, Mal. When I go to book a night using points it notes that if I cancel by 6pm on the day of arrival there is a full refund. Is this standard text or does it mean that points are fully refundable even on reward nights?

PC pointsbreak have always (in my experience, and reading others experiences) been refundable, regardless of the text on the Pointsbreak page.

This could of course change at any time. Note that "no showing" at your hotel, or cancelling after their deadline equals a penalty of the first night's rate. This is not 5000 points, but an arbitrary $$$ rate worked out by the hotel... Some hotels have long cancellation timeframes too - for example, I booked (normal) PC points nights at Munich, and they had a 7 day cancellation time frame.

It must be a Europe thing, I've noticed that a lot with a lot of the bookings I've been making lately ...

Anyone else having hassles checking availability for pointbreaks?

I suspect it is Windows Vista and/or 3 Mobile Broadband but I have done everything I can think of including clearing cookies and reseting browsing history but still comes up with message "Internet Explorer cannot display webpage" after selecting dates and clicking on check availability....

It's working OK for me John.

The IC Perth is back on the 5K rate, not sure how long it will last this time!

Amazingly, they have the 5k deal on Christmas eve, Boxing Day and 27 December (I've booked five rooms in total). Similarly, I'm also very surprised they've got 5k rooms on 25 and 26 January.

They don't have Christmas Day cause I already snaffled it :)
