I don't suppose this still works if you make a booking then subsequently cancel :?:
I think it would work but I made advance purchase bookings so I would forfeit the amount paid.

Do not mention the fact that after monitoring the room rates for a couple of months and seeing that room prices were increasing I made the booking only for the prices to then drop again. What is it with airfares and hotel room rates? It would be hard to find 2 people on a flight that have paid the same airfare and just as hard to find 2 people in hotel that have paid the same room rate for the night.

Has anyone that was not targetted, sign up for the Q4 stay 4 get 10,000 bonus points promotion, completed the stay and had the points post?

Still too many variables in my calculations.

When you know the answer and you know that revealing the answer may hurt you but not help anyone then best to keep quiet....

20K posted yesterday.

Unbelieveable! Promotion code 2222? And you were not targetted?

OK, I am definitely registered for this promotion and did not register for any of the other Q4 stay X promotions. "Thank you for your submission. You are already enrolled in this promotion." Lets see how my luck goes with this one as I should complete 4 stays, and hopefully reach Platinum status, by the time I return from Queenstown in 3 weeks.

Something tells me not to hold my breath though....

JohnK, I have no doubt that you'll get if they are eligible stays and they post to your account.

When I first joined (Jan 06), I wasn't targetted for anything (obviously). But every single quarter since joining (including the first one), being "in the know" ;) , I have registered for the minimum hurdle (Stay 5). In most cases, I wasn't targetted at all or I was given a higher hurdle (Stay 8, Stay 10 etc). In every quarter where I have met the conditions of the promotion for which I registered (always the Stay 5), it has posted.

This quarter I got targetted the Stay 5 in my email and had signed up (thinking it was the lowest hurdle) before I heard about the Stay 4 - not that it makes much difference to me (other than as I've stayed 4 nights this quarter already it would have posted). But I did sign other people's accounts to the Stay 4 (I look after 5 other travellers accounts for promotions).

I'll just have to wait until next week when I stay at HI on Flinders again to achieve my next Stay 5 promo points.

I've just looked at one of the "friend" accounts and they have stayed 4 nights, but they haven't all posted - but I am sure that when they do, it'll post.

IHG isn't as tight in their software programming as other frequent guest programs. Whilst that happens, they're giving away a lot of bonus points :D

Here's a question to ponder.

I am catching up with an old friend at the CP in Perth, and was wondering whether I'd be able to get any PC points on my purchases at the bar?

Note: neither of us are staying there, so can't charge it to the room.

The wording of the Terms is such that it all relates to what is charged to the room as part of the stay, so I would say that you can't get points.

Four night stay in Darwin:

Qualifying Stay 6378pts
platinum bonus 3189pts
online booking bonus 1000pts
stay 4, get 10,000 points 10000pts
q4 triple points/miles 2007 12754pts
book online quadruple points 6378pts.
Total 39699 pts.

Not bad for a $700 spend.

I have received the 10,000 bonus points for the stay 4 nights promotion. :)

I have now earned 36,000 points and with a stay HI Parkview Singapore booked for early December this should earn another 5,000 points. Is Platinum status worth it? I was thinking of paying US$200 for 22,000 points but even without Platinum status benefits it is enough for 4 nights accommodation at some properties.

Ye of little faith, JohnK. I seem to remember posting:

I honest think so having been one for 2 years and spoken to others (Dave Noble, IainF, etc). Just check out this thread to see what we get from hotels (particularly the ones in Australia).

I also think the Priority Privilege program is also a no brainer, if you are travelling with family at Holiday Inns and Crowne Plaza's the kids eat free so your dining discount means you pay for one person in total, travelling on your own gets you 25% off.

The accomomodation rates are OK with 10% of published rates and two buy one get one free certs, I have had no issues with getting points on these rates either.

Only due to the fact that none of the other non targetted promotions have posted for me in the past. I think I will purchase the points to get Platinum status and monitor what sort of benefits I get over the next 12 months.

Condsidering that the cost of purchasing 20K points is about the same as a night's accomodation, you get great value for money!! Soon we'll be welcoming you to the dual Plat club.

I paid the $$$ for the 22000 points, and think it was worth it. It immediately (well overnight) bumped me to Gold, which gives me an additional 10% bonus on stays. I'm keeping my eye out for relevant PointSaver awards (the 5000 points ones), which will give me 4 nights for less than $US50 per night.

So for me, it's worth it. Plat should happen in a couple of days once my latest stay is posted. If I'm a few points short, I may mattress run to the Holiday Inn in Brisbane or find an excuse to head to Sydney or similar. Also keep in note that hotels aren't aware of an upgrade in status if a stay is booked previous to the upgrade of status. All of my recent stays I was identified as a base member.

Points Breaks List has been updated:

Good News:
IC Burswood and HI Cairns now 5000 points per night

Bad News
Thats it for hotels in Aus, all the others are gone.
