Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Agreed but in Vic he seems to have a cult-like following ; of the officials actually elected to make decisions, and the populace)
That won’t influence Australian policy though. Maybe just need to avoid OS travel into Victoria?

Yes I was also wondering if it would be possible to travel from bubble to bubble. No doubt it would be breaking some Australian law but I am beyond caring.
I hear ya. If the event was important enough I’d be sorting this through too.

I guess it depends on the credibility of the speaker.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your agenda) Prof Sutton is the most respected and consulted of all the CHO’s and a very strong voice.

However, as anyone who observes politics - that doesn’t really matter anyway, they will cherry pick whatever advice they want to suit the agenda of the day, so doesn’t really matter!

Scott Morrison was able to do some personal holidaying and sight seeing on his recent international business trip, so clearly this will be allowed for all of us soon too right 😳

Whoopsies......

EXCLUSIVE: Scott Morrison’s secret G7 holiday to explore his family history exposed

Scott Morrison’s office spent weeks planning a G7 side trip to explore his convict family roots while the Prime Minister publicly argued Britain was too risky for Australian travellers.

Last Sunday’s pilgrimage to St Keverne, a small village 45 minutes south of the G7 summit site in Cornwall, was never disclosed to the media despite being on the schedule for at least a fortnight.

Stranded Australians have seized on the non-official travel as evidence politicians are not subject to the same pandemic rules as others, while government officials have downplayed the extent of the Prime Minister’s activities

Meanwhile 8 cases in Victoria quarantine today. Some of the reactions from the Age comments section below. And some think pictures of people partying in Europe is going to have an effect on public opinion! Well such pictures might … in reinforcing the idea that restrictions remain …

With advice like that last paragraph by Dr.Sutton the politicians are not going to budge

Unfortunately is very popular in Victoria and that is part of what is driving this fear of 1 or 2 cases, which is something we should be able to live with an manage.

The advice recently is not balanced health advice, it is an obsession with covid zero, whilst neglecting the larger problems his recommendations are causing in mental health, the constant pauses on elective surgery (we all know many procedures called elective, are actually necessary for quality of life i.e. joint replacements), the economic damage meaning people cant afford dental care etc. History will not look kindly on this continued over reach of power.

SA is no better.

Hello WA, TAS and QLD are the same. Clearly VIC is controlling all these states too ;)
Victoria would never control SA Government, but sadly the CHO is in charge here now and has nothing to lose by slamming the door shut, every single time with no concern for the social, financial and mental welfare of others impacted by their decisions.

I guess the trouble in Victoria, it's not so common that 1 or 2 cases stays at 1 or 2 cases. Everyone should be able to live with that, and by and large Australia and even Victoria does live with 1 or 2 cases, if they occur outside a certain part of Melbourne ( the Cities of Hume, Whittlesea and maybe Brimbank and Wyndham). It seems, I don't know if there's a scientific basis or not, but if something happens in that area it spreads very very quickly across Melbourne.

Updated report today re origin of HQ cases, India now within 3 cases of USA. It would be great if all states published this data so we could get a national chart.

With the continued streak of no UK positives, one would hope this would help with opening up to UK sooner than other places.

Going back to original purpose of email, looking at two trips to Europe in future, and can adapt around specific countries there if needed:

July 2022 and
June 2023

Putting chances of July 2022 even allowing for say 5 days home quarantine at 60%, and June 2023 at same or no home quarantine at 95%. I'm already Pfizer vaccinated.

What do people think?

This is excellent data, what also might be useful is what proportion of arrivals from each country they represent.

Its from the weekly surveillance report which always makes for good reading when there are community cases, only issue is the release lags by about 9 days, form the week it is reporting on.

I agree knowing arrival numbers form each place would be great too.

It’s really hard to see a way forward. Whilst where there’s a will there’s a way, the opposite also applies, where there’s no will, there’s no way.

I’d put July 2022 with 5 days home quarantine at 5%, but with 7 days at about 25% and 14 days at about 50%.

Don’t you think he’s deserved a little overseas holiday side trip after all that hard work at the G7 ;)
Wouldn't it be so much better for the news if he helicoptered over to that nice little cafe outside of Paris he visited on his gap year.
