I've watched this debate in a number of threads for a while now and finally decided to weigh in.
Anecdotal evidence is just that; but as a frequent visitor to the Perth Domestic QP I can say that the only bad language/behaviour I have experienced has been from FIFOs. Others may have different experiences but that is mine.
I also regularly visit the MEL and SYD Business lounges and the atmosphere is very different to PER.
The line Qantas push when I have made comment is that most of the FIFO crowd would have Business Lounge access due to status so there is no point. I agree that creating a "business Lounge" without also setting standards is a waste of time. I am, however, annoyed that the lounge is often rowdy with bad language and feet on chairs/tables.
Perhaps the downstairs part of the QP could be turned into a Business Lounge as well as enforcing better behaviour (for ALL visitors). I'd like to see how those of you who only ever get to see the MEL or SYD Business lounges would react if they were full of people in dirty clothes with feet on tables behaving like they were in a pub.
PER passengers are already disadvantaged by Qantas with no International flights - not providing a Domestic Business lounge for WP/J class travellers is another brush off.
WP1 status will cease at the end of this year (QF - you don't fly where I want to go from PER) along with the occasional invitation to the Perth CL which has been a welcome and relaxing place to be when the QP has been overcrowded.
Hey Red Roo, anything happening in this space?
