Ah yes of course, I wasn't thinking. A cursory Google of some recent updates suggests August. Great news.

Still can never understand why these things take so long.

They can build an iron ore railway in The Pilbara quicker than they can build a kiosk in Perth!

Re: "Island Dining" in the Domestic J lounges: Tips, Timing & Menus

New dom J lounge now delayed until 1st quarter of 2016?

I wish the J lounge in Perth is finished soon.

I had the misfortune of being in Perth QP catchIng the red eye to Sydney. I was at the furtherest end and some FIFOs settled in soon after. The language was absolutely filthy and loud. When a young family took seats nearby with Mum & Dad off to get refreshments, I decided that enough was enough. I asked the ringleader to tone it down to which he asked whether it was the swearing or being loud. I said both. Dripping with sarcasm, the hero decided to make an example of me by saying "oh we are offending her over there". The whole time not one other person backed me up and the attendants turned a deaf ear (maybe they hear it too often). As a parting shot, the hero walked away telling all and sundry with graphic detail what he was going to do to this wife when he got home.

This bloke works for BHP Billiton and he did his employer a great disservice with his behaviour. I took a quick snap of him on my IPad but while I would love to "out" him, it could be more trouble than it's worth.

in hindsight, I should have approached the counter staff but that meant moving away from my possie (lounge was packed)

Unfortunately I suspect you will find many of these 'characters' will also have access to the J lounge.

I think QF would be better creating a separate corner with sports on TV, lots of pies and sausage rolls, a dartboard, beers and Bundy

Well done. I wish I had your guts.

I always head to the downstairs lounge in Perth. It's always quieter and I honestly think they should just make that the J lounge until the new one is finished!

Upstairs just seems so rowdy all the time

The last few times i have shown up to this lounge wearing a suit the attendants suggested i might be more comfortable downstairs as it is quieter. They seemed to go out of their way to get me there. Maybe Canali and Hi Viz dont mix well together? Last week i was dressed more casually and there was no suggestion of downstairs so i sat with the FIFO's upstairs which wasnt too noisy.
I agree with others that when the J lounge opens that the WP FIFO's will go there too. Human nature means we all take advantage of the exclusivity when available. I just hope the new J lounge is quieter even with the amount of WP's that can use it. Also looking forward to a better (slightly) class of wine as the offerings in the current lounge are very ordinary.

I don't really like the sneering tone that some take when discussing FIFO and trade workers in the lounge. (Not a reference to those posting in this thread)
My job can have me in a suit one day and work clothes the next, class isn't determined by what you wear to work.

Christoo, there may be some sneering by a few AFFers but some of the references are to behaviour.

It's not acceptable to talk extremely loudly or to copiously swear in such surroundings of an airline lounge, whatever one's garb.

I agree wholeheartedly, using foul language around a young family is reprehensible.
To be honest I don't think foul language has any place in a public or corporate environment.

I have witnessed poor behaviour from all manner of passengers in my times in the lounge, especially on Friday afternoons.

My post was not FIFO bashing, to be clear. My husband & I moved to WA 28 years ago when my husband landed the dream job at one of the first FIFO gigs - Argyle Diamonds. I am a veteran FIFO wife!! As part of the then management's family friendly programme, I was able to visit the site many times and sat in the bar - so I have heard it all before.

But to have a "guest" in the lounge talking that way is unacceptable.

Looks like the J Lounge is scheduled for opening on the 27th or 28th of August, according to one of the lovely PER Lounge Angels this morning.

As for behaviour in the QC, I agree wholeheartedly: the loud, obnoxious, and crude discussions that one can frequently overhear in the PER QC are disgusting and should not be permitted, regardless of who is involved. I applaud you, SpudOz, for making a stand. I tried once to take similar action there a couple of years ago, but only once. The ridicule and embarrassment I was made to feel, together with the lack of support from anyone else in the vicinity, meant that since then I just try to find somewhere else to sit. It's a shame that these groups of people ruin the place for the rest of us.

mrpooky.

Excellent timing, I will be there on the 11th Sep.

Excellent timing, looking forward to visiting the new J lounge. :)

I certainly hope it's better than the BNE J DOM lounge. That is a bad joke. As is the BNE international J lounge.

Great news as I will be there on 24/9 and was not super impressed by the QC on my visit last week.
