Hi All,

QF are currently advertising a MEL-LHR PE 27-Sep to 25-Nov sale at $2251*. The only condition I can find on the page is that Australia Departures must be Sunday - Thursday, all good so far.

Scan through the entire validity period and the cheapest MEL-LHR is $1789.

which - by my calculation - means I need a return leg advertised at $462 and as you can guess ....

Incidentally, similar sale fare is advertised from BNE (mostly via MEL on outbound) with precisely the same no-event.

OK, I know fares sell-out, but I'd have thought that once ALL available sale items are gone, you couldn't continue to advertise something you cannot provide, so .....

Am I missing something on my search or is Qantas being - just a teeny-weeny bit - disingenuous with this "sale"?

Regards,

BD

I noticed the same thing with the recent HKG and BKK economy sales. There was a 2 week period end November beginning December listed and I could not find any of the advertised airfares.

I guess seats sell out quick or not many seats released at that price?

I saw the same thing a few hours ago - advertised as $2,264 for SYD-LHR return in Premium Economy, but no such fares available. The lowest I could find during the designated travel period was $3,885.

I believe that this is either a typo, or very poor form from Qantas.

There seemed to be a technical glitch which has since been rectified. You can now see current availability as advertised.

The real price now still seems to be $3,885. But it's now advertised as $5,725.

Yeah I don't see the $2251 price either. Bummer, would've jumped on it.

Agoda seems to have had the same glitch. (I can't link due to my low post count, but there is a current thread in the Velocity forum titled "scam in Agoda land"...)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Looks like the "glitch" is manifesting itself in the other direction. An example is MEL-SFO which is headlined at $5231 across the year, but can be found at $4598.
