Pancake Machine

Some of the IHG Staybridge properties in the USA have pancake or waffle makers which are equally acceptable in my book.

What I've noticed about some airport establishments in Australia is that they sell 'pancakes' which are really Golden pikelets you buy from Woollies or Coles. If you need a pancake fix at the airport & you don't have lounge access you can always go to Macca's or Hungry Jacks if it's within their breakfast timeframe.

These machines have been in QF lounge for 2 years now. VA also introduced them subsequently. I've seen them in few hotels (in BKK) in their exec lounges. Are they found in hotels in Australia? I would eat pancakes at breakfast than cereals which I ritually have at home most mornings.

Tried them once, the result was disgusting. I don't give them a second look now.

They have changed and tweaked the recipe over the past few years. The dry ingredients are provided in a bag which is mixed with water prior to being put into the machines. It is the dry ingredient mix that has changed over the years. My understanding is that the dry ingredients are also produced in each country - so the pancakes in these machines in USA would probably taste different to Au.

I've used the one in the Koru Lounge at MEL. It's not bad and fairly quick, but a chef could still make them better, I reckon.

I could make better pancakes (and I'm not a chef), but they are definitely acceptable.
