Regular check in, OLCI desk

It seems unusual they would do it from a regular check in desk. As normally these desks have no way of taking payments - they usually have no cash or CC handling facilities. Like when you have excess baggage you have to go to a service desk to pay.

They did a manual authorisation form for my CC

Gee, QF's really making a grab for cash. Personally, I hope they don't devalue the J cabin in the chase for a few quick bucks.

Re: QF Airport Upgrades

Thought it might be useful to have a thread on this as there doesn't appear to be any dedicated to date..

HKG-SYD Discount Y to J "Airport Upgrade" COST: $6,500(HKD)

Asked about this ex-Sin yesterday:

QF6 SIN-SYD
Y->J = S$1000
Y->W = S$420

Woman at the sales desk had to check the flight I was inquiring about (so, the fares may be different QF6 vs QF2). As she then had to go away to look up availability, and as I was already in a hurry (had to rebook onto another flight due to missing the flight I was supposed to be on), I didn't linger to make further inquiries about other routes or flights.

There was no signage about this. Dunno if asking at the regular checkin counters yields anything (I doubt the people at the SIN Premium desk would have any idea what you're talking about). Best to go ask at the sales counter IMHO

Got one 2 weeks ago.
Not sure if that's recent enough info for you, but it is a data point.

Re: QF Airport Upgrades

I've paid for the upgrade from Econ to PE from HK to Syd. I ask at the desk and if they have empty PE seats (only about 50%) of the time - I grab it.

My company only pays for Y - and considering I've done this route about 20 times this year - my body is killing me - so it's a little treat to myself. And since travel bookings are done through a travel agent, I can't call up and upgrade myself.

I don't get SC or point for it though.

Thank you Qantas for doing this! Makes me happy.

Another data point: Was offered the S$1000 upgrade from discount Y to J on QF6 SIN-SYD last week. A330 so no PE available. I asked at the service desk in the new J lounge, and the lady behind the counter was very helpful and keen for us to upgrade, but I didn't think it was worth it for the A330 J product.

Perhaps after the refit ;)

Glad to hear it's still available. Seriously considering it for the overnight flights from SIN to SYD. Can the lounge angels process these cabin upgrades as well?

Would seem to be the case:

That's right - the service desk is on your left as you walk into the lounge. There was a very helpful lady there who took our boarding passes to check availability and offer us a price. They can change flights at the service desk too, but I'm not certain they issue the boarding passes there - perhaps someone else could confirm?

They can issue boarding passes, no problems at all.
