Hi Everyone,

I'm building a Oneworld Award in J for 2 people, I booked the first couple legs and then rang QF to add the next few (which of course you can't do via the website).

The operator said during the call she would waive the service fee.

The flights were added with no issues. I got charged:
Reward Booking Fee -5,000 pts (x2) which I expected, but also
International Service Fee - -15,400 pts (7,700 pts per person).

Did I get overcharged in terms of fees and will I have much to do on if I contact QF?

The 5000 fee is for changing a booking. That is to be expected. The 7700 fee is for a phone booking - that should be waived for J flights. Call the FF assistance line (not the booking line) to get it refunded.

Any recommendations on easier route from Australia to India and back on OWA. I could see HND/NRT to BLR/DEL
AND MNL to HND/NRT by JL. unable to find anything out of Australia to ASIA which connects to India. I'm after 2 OWA business seats.

CX flies to several cities in India. I can't comment on award availability though. If you're MEL based, maybe look at UL via CMB?

Why not fly QF67 and QF68 SYD-BLR-SYD? There's plenty award availability on this, even in J.

I am newbie and planning my 1st OWA trip, could you please help me with below queries. We are 2 adult, 12yr old and an infant.

1. If I book partial part of the trip now and rest later when seats are available, the 5k modifications fee is per pax per, per leg or something else. For ex. Below are the Multicity Booking
SYD-HKG-- by CX transit
HKG-HND - by JL transit
HND-DEL--by JL
Will I be paying 5k x 3 per passenger or just 5k per passenger.

2. If I add an infant later to the booking will there be again 5k charge?

Any suggestions on doing partial bookings?

5000 points per pax, per phone call where changes are made, not per flight. Make as many changes as you like on the same call for the 5000 points each pax.

I book as much as I can on-line, and then suffer the Call Centre later on to add/ change flights as availability opens.

Hey all,

Finished booking the first OWA in (mostly J) I've ever actually constructed for myself:

PER-HKG-ZRH on CX
ZRH-HEL-KIX on AY
NRT-YVR on JL
YVR-LHR-CDG on BA
CDG-KUL-PER on MH

Overall, very happy with the itinerary. But, the JL leg from NRT-YVR is unfortunately in Y.

At the time of booking, there was a lovely JL married segment from NGO-NRT-YVR in J that would've fit perfectly. Unfortunately, the booking kept erroring out prior to payment, and it was pretty obvious to me what was causing it - so I subbed the direct NRT-YVR Y leg in, and it worked.

After booking, I did call up and ask to see if it could be added - the agent could see it when searching NGO-YVR individually, but was unable to add it to the booking - so it was definitely POS locked as well.

Question is, if I started booking the award online with the NGO-NRT-YVR segment (and the flights after) and then called to add the first two flights on, would that have zeroed the availability on these JL flights due to a change in the POS and thus murdered the itinerary? Or would it have been possible with the right phone agent? My guess is the former, but thought I'd ask anyway for future knowledge.

RJ seems to have made a change and are no longer allowing the management of bookings (PNRs) made through other OW airlines. If it’s permanent it’s a bit of a bugger as I can’t get CHECKMYTRIP to show new trips. Does anyone have any other options to confirm etickets have been issued?

To load trips into CMT, you may need to adjust your profile settings so your name matches the booking (ie just first name, first name and initial, all first names). I think CMT is once again the best tool, although it doesn’t update information in real time so to check up to date information you have to reload the trip each time.

Thanks. With a bit of adjustment to my profile name I can get CMT to accept the booking but for some reason it won’t then show the trip unless there is some protracted lag between adding the PNR and then displaying the trip details?

Try Finnair e-ticket facility. It sends the booking information to the e-mail already attached to the booking.

Is it considered 9,986mi or 9,932mi?

Also QF's own calculator isn't exactly the same as tools online so small difference can occur if you're right on the edge

Single flight number = point to point mileage. For example QF1 is mileage SYD-LHR.

separate flight numbers is always the sum of each flight.

It’s now 6,000 points to make a change to a booking and also to cancel a booking.
