Silly question but definitely within all other rules? And are you breaking any married segments? i.e. if you're booking PER-HKG-NRT does the flight combo show up if you search for PER-NRT as well as the individual legs?
My reply goes back to a post by Captain Halliday where he referred to "Married Segment Control" airlines.
I suspect Finnair is one of those.
I can book SIN-HEL mid october but not with a connection from Australia to SIN that is not a stopover -ie MEL-SIN-HEL thru flight allowed only if there is a stopover of >24 hours.
My question is:
if I go ahead and do book a OWA starting at Singapore (instead of Melbourne) ,
and, at a later date ,
I add the MEL-SIN sector on QF without a 24 hour stopover in SIN ( should there be award seats available) .
I'm guessing that, if Finnair has any involvement in the reticketing , i
I’m not sure if Finnair uses MSC. @madrooster is likely to know. There are no silly questions.

I'm guessing that, if Finnair has any involvement in the reticketing , it may not be allowed but I would value your advice.

Thank youIf the married segments rule applies , I do not think that class of individual segments makes any difference.
I have a question about Married Segments.
I have booked a set of RTW flights for 2 pax as follows:
SYD-ADL-DOH-BRU [QF/QR]
MAD-GIG [IB]
GIG-JFK-YVR [AA/CX]
YVR-HKG-SYD [CX]
Now, the last 2 sectors of the itinerary specifically are:
CX855 YVRHKG 26JUN 0930 1350+1 BUSINESS
CX161 HKGSYD 27JUN 2130 0845+1 PREMIUM ECONOMY
I had hoped to change the final flight to:
QF118 HKGSYD 30JUN 2325 1050+1 BUSINESS
On calling Qantas, we were told that we couldn't change because the existing CX flights were married segments. Is this correct? Does this apply when the 2 flights are in different classes? Really keen to get that J class home on the 30th.....but not sure where to go from here. If anyone can provide any guidance, I would appreciate it greatly! Thank you![]()
Ah right, thank you for explaining that. Appreciate it.Yes, I believe the CSA is correct.
Your problem is there is no J award availability on CX855 on your preferred date.
I expect you have that seat now as a segment married to CX161, but CX855 on its own is not available.
Cancelling your existing flight doesn’t automatically mean that seat is released back into the award bucket.
I’m not sure if Finnair uses MSC. @madrooster is likely to know.
If you book SIN-HEL on Finnair and later add MEL-SIN on QF, there’s no reason for Finnair to even know. So long as adding that sector is within all the other OWA rules, I don’t see a problem.
Should be fineIs it possible to add a flight onto an existing booking when when trying to construct a 280,000 flight by using the qantas chat facility? I will be overseas when I need to add a sector - 353 days - will have wifi, but no phone.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Should be no problems to do it via chat, I’ve made changes to award bookings in this mannerNo I will still be in the planning stages. This will be the third flight of 5 in my proposed itinerary. It’s just that I won’t have access to a phone at the time I would need to book that 3rd flight but will have wifi. So that’s when I thought I could possibly use the on line chat to ask them to help with this booking.
Confusing! I think you mean SCL, as SLC is Salt Lake CityThis is a good laugh trying to get it to line up on the qantas site. Had this work SYD-HKG-MAN-LHR-JFK-YVR-LAX-SLC-SYD 280k changed an earlier date, came to the LAX-SLC again and it blew up saying too many browser refreshes. Went back and ran the previous dates and it blew up again. Had this work/not work on a few different itineraries. Always blows a gasket on the South American leg.
Does anyone have any experience with changing the flight times or dates of sectors after taking the first flight? No change to the route or carrier but there may be an opportunity to push some dates out. Is there a link to the QF terms & conditions that would allow this? Easy to do over live chat with the usual 5k per person fee in J?
