The ink on the majority of my boarding pass collection has faded to the point where it is difficult to read any details on the boarding pass. :-|

Me too! I put some with some plastic wrapping, stupid idea!! since plastic makes it fade :(

Some (All?) QuickCheck machines allow this functionality of re-printing an already checked in passenger's boarding pass. I don't know if that upgrade has been rolled out to all QuickCheck machines Australia-wide though.
Can I ask for an update on these QuickCheck machines?

Back in 2008 I started an OLCI from home for a domestic flight I was booked on the next day. I did not have a printer at the time, just wanted to 'check in' to see my seat allocation and whether or not there was a need for me to select a new seat as part of the OLCI process.

As it turned out I was happy with my allocated seat so I did not complete the check in process from home.

The next morning I arrived at the airport and went to check in at the kiosk.
After typing in my booking code a message appeared saying "there is an issue with your check-in, please see staff at the information desk".

The staff at the desk informed me the issue was that I had previously tried to check in online and as a result the kiosk option would now be no use to me.
Of course this was not a problem as the staff at the info desk were easily able to complete my check in and print me my BP.

Now fast forward 2 years and I have an upcoming international flight next week.

Can I check in online from home to see my seat allocation the day before my flight, or can I only check in from home if I am prepared to print off my boarding pass then and there and fully complete the online check in process??

Thanks
-adam

You don't need to to OLCI to check / change your seat - There is a "Select Seats" option in the "Manage your Booking" area.

I have for at least the past 12 months, always OLCI'd then used a Kiosk to print out my boarding pass.

Thanks for that flashware.

Thanks, although I have tried this method and even though I can currently chose a seat, it does not show that if I have had a seat already allocated to me.

For my flight in question the current available seats are only middle seats.

I am in hope that my 'window' seat request may have already been allocated to me and therefore, should not select a seat now rather wait until check in to see which seat I have been given :-|

If you go to http://www.checkmytrip.com/ and put in your booking reference and surname you will be able to see if you have seats assigned.

Ok thanks. In that case I do not have specific seats allocated, but it does say "airline has confirmed your seat or meal requests".
