looks a bit worn.
i suspect some around here have a stack of no hologram, no expiry cards (sadly i don't think they are valid either)

Little point trying to use it since it expired. Unlike the stack of no expiry passes I have at home. :(

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

So the really old ones that didn't have an expiry date are no good even if I can find where I put them? Have heaps of them - 20 or more. Back when the came in books of 5, IIRC.

Has anyone tried to use them?

Yes - when I recommenced flying two years ago - it was explained to me that I didn't need them anymore, and that my (at the time) QP membership entitled me to the 1 x guest I had with me.

From memory the T&C were edited to make them invalid. But I think it is somewhat debatable, (not that I will have the debate in this thread or at all)

Aren't these the ones, or similar, that have been selling on eBay overseas in blocks of 4? Has anyone heard if there have been any complaints of people purchasing these and not been able to use them?

You would be referring to the "Guest Passes", not the complimentary invitations of which there is an image of in the OP.

Until June (2004/2005) they were needed for a QP member to take a guest into the lounge. Ten were issued to SG/WP/QP and five to partner QP.

The complimentary invitation that's in the OP was generally to be used for one-off access to a QP. One would be issued to a PS every year on (re)qualification.

Well here's a little of my collection in our cleanup-
DSC02356.JPG

My original life QP-with a 3 year expiry date!
An original QP guest pass.
Mrsdrron's life GW.
QF playing cards
and assorted airline soaps.

Those complimentary invitations of a bygone era were quite large. Here's what they looked like in 1996 (Check the matchstick for size comparison):

That era's had no expiry dates on them, although those of a year or two later, while having a similar layout, did have expiry dates. Needless to say, those were used long ago.

Not all were large as mine came out of the 1994 joining as a life member kit.The guest invitations had no expiry but my life QP card did.

Over the years I received and still have dozens of the blue (& white) credit card sized guest cards. Yon guest card required a member to be present to "guest" the non member in.

Note these are not the invitations as are pictured in posts #1 and #10 of this thread. These invitations could be used by a non-member travelling solo.

The 90s were not a bad time to be flying, miss the 1000 points a day for Avis rentals which meant a J RT with SQ every 6 months! Things you find when you are cleaning up, looks like I double dipped SYD-KUL, would have done the same coming back but I was refused boarding, and still got points!

Of course, back then it was one frequent flyer point per Kilometre (although no Status bonus, nor minimum earn).

MEL-SYD was 707 points.

So today it was finding hotel stuff from the 80s.

There was one from the Sheraton wentworth as well.have stayed at more closed Sheratons in australia than currently open ones.
Also back then I was lifetime Gold(no plat) in the Sheraton Club international.Disappeared when they weent to SPG.Always upgraded to Towers in Brisbane back then.Plus usually top floors in Singapore and HKG.
Hopefully LTQP and LTP on AA dont go the same way.

Do you think the old 50% off rack rate coupons they sold us as part of the Sheraton Privelege would still work? I found an envelope or 3 that look similar, with all these vouchers inside.Possibly from the 80s or early 90s

I actually used a few about 6-7 years ago at the Sheraton singapore-they didn't want to honour them but their name was on the cert with no expiry so I got the deal.

I learnt something new. I had no idea CX was part of *A back in the day. Interestingly reading your statement I see CX400. It caught my eye as I flew the same flight number on the same route on Sunday.

The statement looks to be from 1996, so that would have been pre-Star Alliance as it wasn't founded until the next year. And CX were never a Star Alliance member, however the rest of them were except for MH but their joining dates vary. CX are a founding member of One World however.
