The statement looks to be from 1996, so that would have been pre-Star Alliance as it wasn't founded until the next year. And CX were never a Star Alliance member, however the rest of them were except for MH but their joining dates vary. CX are a founding member of One World however.

It's actually 9/98, when their tie up with Air NZ and SQ was announced prior to moving into Star the following year.

That era's had no expiry dates on them, although those of a year or two later, while having a similar layout, did have expiry dates. Needless to say, those were used long ago.
So are the lounge passes still valid today? ;)
