re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Looking for a JASA or FASA SYD-LAX later this year, and thought cheap FASAs showed up in the P bucket on EF, with cheap JASAs in U.

Looks like I'm wrong and I'd dearly love to know which bucket I should be searching on?

Found P=1 in Oct SYD-LAX, however the FASA cost is something like 400,000,000  points (I exaggerate), yet it does show up as an F Classic Award, and, perhaps better still, a 72.5K F Aaward all the way over the RSW where I'm headed. I may take that if it's still there next month.

However, keen to find even a JASA as I may need the SCs to requalify as WP.

You are right (classic F bucket = P, classic J bucket = U). I've found that on some occasions, even though there is classic availability, it doesn't necessarily mean there is also ASA availability in that bucket for that flight.

If you find classic availability but not ASA on the same route on the same day, I'd suggest to ring up and ask why. I haven't done this as I don't have the need to, but if you do - please report back! :D

I have found this before - it generally related to additional availability for my platinum status. E/F would be showing no availability.

Classic award level xASA's appear to come from base or bronze availability, so I search using a bronze account or just use expertflyer.

However, I have come across some rare occasions and/or routes where Qantas simply aren't selling these.

Hi Serfty

Does this mean that they do not show up if you are Silver,Gold or platinum ????? I would have thought it would have been the other way around ?????

it means if you are looking for ASAs at classic levels, then you need to search as a bronze member.

if you have status, additional award seating may be available.

if the award is available solely because of your status, it may not be available at classic ASA pricing.

Thanks.. the next question would be - can these additionally available classic fare bucket tickets be redeemed as an ASA at "classic prices" by calling up?

Also in my link (and as Paddy55 also mentioned) - such fares are able to be found as milesAAver awards. I am AA GLD (OWR) so does it mean that non-QF OW status can provide greater accessibility to QF award buckets?

Qantas is run by an Irishman........but surely this can't be right ?

Thanks for the responses(s).
I will call QF on this, however likely in 3 - 4 weeks time.

Not sure if this has already been posted before, nor if this is the right thread for it, but....

I'm trying to search for a Y+ ASA from SIN-BNE, but the search engine only gives me Y, J and F as search options. Obviously there is PE on the SIN-BNE QF route, so why would it not be showing up as an ASA option? The only reason I can think of, is that Y+ can only be booked from ex-Australia cities??

Qantas have removed it I suspect while the A330 operates on the route or its a quirk, noticed it myself on the weekend.

Hi guys am new to the forum so thought I would give it a go. Read alot about this JASA thing and status runs and what not. Has all been very informative but there is alot of info to digest. Just thought I'd ask in here. I need to accrue 60(120 after double points) credits by June 30 to keep Gold. Any thoughts on whats the cheapest way to do this? I have about 70000 points at the moment. Thanks in advance! I'm in sydney by the way

Hubby will be doing SYD - BNE - TSV return. Cost 48,000 points plus $272.44 taxes. Or 75,639 points (inclusive of taxes). However, you can choose other combination of points and $. This one can be done in one day (no overnight stay in Townsville). Return trip will earn you 400 SC (with double SC offer, more than you will need) and 5,960 points.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Thanks for that Myrna thats abit much for what I need. Only need 60 (120 with the double):)

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

To be on the safe side I suggest you book this week ... ther are rumors ...

ex SYD is the least efficient.

Now ... 60 SC's ex SYD? You could fly business to ADL via CBR or MEL to get 80 for 24K points and $270.

Or SYD-HBA for 24K and $150 - take a red e-deal back. That 60 SC's down and 15 on the return.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

what rumours are you referring to?

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

I need 550 SC's to get to Platinum (so does hubby) before Oct 31st...have looked and looked and it seems I will have to do two to qualify and want to book this week (just in case of changes) Mel- Broome and Mel to Karratha at 280 SC's each but at a cost of around $1059.00 for each journey and 144,000 points ....so the big question is it is worth it ? I have just made gold and that goes through till Oct 2014 -
I did mention on another forum thread that we are planning a OWE award fare in J in 2014 and hopefully again in 2015. I have 950,000 points so enough, and husband has 450,000... I am just really procrastining around whether to do it or not. Markis advised waiting to see if a double SC offer came up and I thought if it did I could cancel one or other of the planned JASA's (they are fully refundable) and if available re book with the double Sc's... anyway just thinking out loud. I am not a business traveller all our travel is for holidays, but like the thought of better availability for seating, lounge access etc..but of course could also join Qantas Club if it was just for the lounges. Any thoughts...I will never get this close again to Platinum I am sure and if allowed the soft fall to Gold would give me 2 years at a higher level.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

I was worried about requalifying for SG this year as I've been doing most of my flying on VA. I did a couple of SYD-BNE-TSV JASAs one way and was getting closer but then the double SCs offer came (late in the day) when I needed 130 more. Did another one way (TSV-BNE-SYD) where the points had gone up to 43K from 37K last time and I qualified easily. I did have until the end of October but it's handy to get there early. I got my bonus 8000 points too on top of whatever I earned.

I now need to requalify SG for VA - that may be harder without double SCs I think.

The only reason to earn more SCs for QF this year would be to work towards LTG. That may take some time. I'm on 7677 after nearly 18 years! Only got LTS (big woop) last year. Not enough INT J flying I guess.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

how many SCs do you get on SYD-BRI-TSV each way?
