Just wondering if anyone else has ever observed this 'fare condition' and whether it is just a mistake or is enforced?

I am looking at QF PE fares from SIN - LHR in June and managed to find a sale fare on the Singapore QF website. The fare is 'Premium Economy Saver' so I am guessing it books into "T" class. Under the fare conditions, it states:

Qantas Frequent Flyer
  • Flight Upgrade Awards are not eligible on this fare
  • Points and Status Credits are not earned when travelling on Qantas Any Seat Awards. Classed as Premium Economy when Status Credits are earned on this fare.
A quick look at the T&Cs for flight upgrades reveals that none of the usual PE fare classes are considered "restricted fares" for flight upgrade awards (except "Z" which is an award class anyway), so I can't see how this is correct.

Has anyone ever flown one of these and had problems getting a points UPG? Assuming of course there was availability for a points UPG?

It just looks like a mistake...that or there is another fare class being used for this fare. If people want to generate the page, the dates were SIN-LHR 17 June, LHR-SIN 17 July.

I've been able to successfully get a points upgrade from a T class PE saver fare, so unless their policy has changed in the past week, I'd say this is an error (seems like there are a few of those going around lately!). :)

Yes - interestingly, when I plug the same dates into the Any Seat Award engine, the PE Saver fare conditions clearly state that flight upgrade awards are eligible (except for any seat awards), so I think someone has cut and pasted the wrong conditions...

The statement about 'T' not being eligible for award upgrades has been there for some time - I seem to recall this being discussed in one of last years round of discounted PE seats. General consensus was that it was eligible for upgrades.

Thanks - I had a quick look but could not see it discussed. I imagine it is just an error...

Has your booking been ticketed? (An emailed receipt from Qantas or a ticket number appearing on www.checkmytrip.com indicated that it has.)

If not, you can't request an upgrade.

Other than that, call Qantas and ask if you do wish to upgrade.

Serfty - haven't booked yet so can't request the UPG. My concern was more with the fact that the fare conditions prior to booking were indicating that I wouldn't be able to request an UPG even though PE booking classes aren't excluded anywhere in the T&Cs that I can see.

Fare enough ... have you called Qantas and asked.

In any case, I think it may be a bad editing job.
