NZ has just announced that as of midnight tomorrow that EVERY traveller entering NZ will have to self quarantine for 14 days and that no cruise ships can dock in NZ until June 30th.
Strict new border exit measures to PI’s will also be put into place.

Only exception is for Pacific Islands:

NZ basically locked down with new 14-day quarantine for all entries commencing Monday.

Would assume almost all trans tasman flights will disappear

NZ just announced 14 day isolation for all travellers.... that's going to hurt the DSC runners.

New Zealand requires all travellers to isolate

New Zealand has put in place tough new travel restrictions to slow the spread of coronavirus to the country.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced new measures to slow the spread of coronavirus to her country.

As of midnight on Sunday, all travellers arriving in the country will have to isolate themselves for 14 days, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced on Saturday afternoon. The restrictions will include New Zealand citizens.

Indeed, I have some AKL and WLG runs from next week. Wonder if I could remain in transit and be ok (as I’d booked them for minimal time on the ground)? But I wonder if this destroys the ability for QF / VA to operate the flights with their crew.

This might throw a spanner into the works of my AKL / WLG status runs next week.

Would this lead to QF (and VA) cancelling flights, if it applies to and restricts their crew too?
I would say absolutely it will cause cancellations by airlines. Will be a rush from the Kiwis to get home before tomorrow night after that I’m not sure too many people would willingly fly to NZ.

And a rush of Aussies getting home before flights are cancelled.

and that no cruise ships can dock in NZ until June 30th.

Will pretty much force the cruise lines to shut down given most were trying to redirect AsiaPac ships to NZ

Ouch, that's gonna hurt a lot of people

Flights will still run, but you're probably looking at all Trans-Tasman flights consolidated in to one service a day, perhaps from SYD and anyone wishing or needing to get over there will have to connect domesitcally.

Presume crews will have to stay on board, and have a quick turnaround.

Midday departure ex-AU would facilitate this no problem, most do a two-sector day on TT anyway.

Crew have been excluded from most of these travel restrictions though, unsure about NZ.

Yeah there goes my AKL status run in a couple of weeks then. A nightmare for Qantas and likely VERY expensive for all airlines as they will surely now have to offer refunds.

VA initially published the following alert on their website:
We are aware of new travel restrictions announced by the New Zealand Government and are assessing our response.

Now updated to:
We are aware of new travel restrictions announced by the New Zealand Government today. We are working on a policy for guests with existing bookings and will advise shortly.
