New QF A380 reconfiguration!!!

I had a fantastic experience with QANTAS on the phone last night. Her name was Catherine!
I had to convert a voucher for a cancelled one way flight from LAX-ADL and it was not possible to do it online.
She sorted me out on QF 11 and QF12 on the dates I wanted, at the discount fares I had found on the website, then put me into 32K going over and 32A coming back.
Assuming there is no aircraft change, I'm a happy camper.
Can anyone tell me if the Y window seats upstairs have the side bins for storeage?

I noticed a few that were dummies on the reconfig, seems a waste of valuable storage spave given overhead space is at a premium in the mini cabin.

Did they remove them for the refurb or were they like that when PE was there? If they have always been missing it may well be because there is some reason (ducting/cabling, wall curvature etc) that prevents them from being fitted. Looking at the pic it does seem like the wall is starting to curve back behind the seat so may well be the reason in this case for it being a 'dummy'.

I suspect they have not touched them as part of the reconfig, and now some usable ones are no longer usable with the new bulkheads.

There are some seats in J where the side locker is a dummy (eg 20A), so there are a few places where this happens for whatever technical reason.

Hi, flying next week SYD-LAX and scored 32 J/K. My first time on an A380 and wanted the experience to be as pleasant as possible. It's one week out from fly time and just checked seat selection, and there are a ton of seats available in lower deck. Are these planes not flying at capacity? Also, what's the ambient temperature on board? I usually dress for arrival, but that's domestic, and this being a 13 hr flight, I want to be comfy, so no shorts or Tee? Thanks.

Free seats on seat selection don't necessary mean empty seats, it is possible that others flying simply haven't selected their seats as of yet

Data point for those interested in Y+
24A is a gem of a seat. Side bin access, legroom a plenty without anyone standing on you, virtually to toilet noise.

Defiantly it and its twin on the other side are the pick of the bunch.

Depends on where you sit; near exits can get a bit chilly. I usually wear trackie pants and a hoodie, and change before we land in LA.

Remember, on the 380, the cabin crew can adjust the temperature around the exits. My last flight from LAX a few weeks back was a little chilly at the exit row, and when I mentioned it to the FA, he said we only needed to mention it and they can adjust the temp. He then turned it up a bit, and it was definitely more comfy. Only trouble was, it was almost at the end of the trip :(

Am I right to think that by end of June all 12 A380 will have been reconfigured? I think that 9 are done, 1 (OQA) is in Manilla and only OQB and OQC are still old config? I have 2 flights on the A380 this month and they still show the old config seat map.

The Qantas seat maps show OQB and OQC as the only 2 left with the old config so I think you're correct

And then there was one...

OQB is currntly in Manila to be reconfigured. So that just leaves OQC in service with the the old configuration. I'm on OQC later today - the seat map of my booking changed 2 days ago.
