Re: And then there was one...

Has anyone been incorrectly charged twice for seat selection?

Organised seats for my father and his partner who are NB hence the $25 seat selection charge. I got them 33D/E on QF11 but managed to change a day later to 32D/E but was charged both times (even though the QF site says you can change seats without charge).

Called QF who had no idea and took down my number to call me back....

I'm curious how you managed to pay for rows 32 and 33 assuming it is an A380 service as these are normally platinum and above reserved rows, in other words you wouldn't be able to get them, pay or not as a NB.

Interesting that you say these are WP and above.
I fly over to LAX in 3 weeks in 32A and back 2 weeks later in 32K and was able to select these seats on line with no fees and I am SG!

As an SG rows 32 and 33 are blocked for me.

Re: And then there was one...

These seats if not already allocated may become available to more than WP in the last week or few days before the flight.

Ah ok. Well already allocated row 33 for SYD-LAX next month with row 32 already occupied. Don't know if I should shift from 81A to 32/33 LAX-SYD in July if it opens up.

I have reserved 32J/32K/33J/33K for my family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids). As I've read that overhead storage is limited in the upper deck economy section, I was curious if there is a way to store smaller carryon bags (small children's backpack) under the seat of 33J/33K? I know those seats have a wall directly behind them because of the jumpseat for the FA, but when looking at photos of the seats, it looks like there might be enough room to squeeze a smaller bag in there to avoid wasting overhead space. Anyone have any experience?

Thanks.

If you had the choice of an exit row upstairs (35D) or downstairs at the front of Y (48A), what would you choose?
48Y would be a quick way to get off in a hurry, but not sure how "busy" it would be in the area.
Would welcome feedback.

Upstairs seats always, it has that more exclusive feel and seems to be quieter from my experience.

The upper deck is emptied before the lower deck Y passengers are allowed to deplane, so in theory you will be out earlier in 35D than in 48A.

I keep checking my flights; if upstairs exit row becomes available I'll be moving from 66A.

How about 49A/B/C? It's for a party of 3, well, a couple, and an in-law... anyway, would the proximity to the galley likely to be an issue?

If you can select row 49 I'm assuming there's a WP in the party, why not upper deck? Couple in a window pair and the in-law either in a seat infront/behind on the window side or across the aisle. Or is the upper cabin full for the flight?

The WP is me. :)

32A/B D/E/F/G and the same seats in 33 are free. I thought of getting row 32, but the other half will complain that the arm rest is fixed and she can't get cuddled into sleep, and the in-law will complain that she's stuck out on her own... Sometimes, you wish you're flying with strangers instead.

It is going to be a full flight though, doing HKG-SYD at the start of the HKG school holidays. Might've hoped for an op-up if I was flying solo (like I usually do).

Then wouldn't 33 D/E/F solve the situation? Or do you want the window?

Actually arm rest DOES come up between 32AB and 32 EF, pics here http://www.australianfrequentflyer....y-here-there-everywhere-50186.html#post821597

Went Upper Deck Y (SYD-HKG) last week in bulkhead seat, agreed the cabin is great for Y pax very small and intimate. Only issue I found was that crew seemed to be shared between upper deck Y and PE cabins? and as such we pretty much got ignored the entire flight.
I could also hear the crew chatting in the galley laughing that they're so used to short haul and that they were not used to long haul way of service. Explained a lot about the lack of service and attention on the flight.

I did notice that they served a meal and disappeared, however they were only a call button away ;), I prefer that than hovering or them patrolling.
