Wow.. Now that is gender reversal operatis.. Without being male chauvinistic.. I have spent many of times in all classes.. Reluctantly lurking around the convenience facilities waiting, waiting, waiting..still waiting.. till she finally emerges 'as prepared for the paparazzi greet" on arrival... I always choose the wrong queue..

I am always prepared for the paps but I'm quite happy to wield my make-up brushes and lippy at my seat. If all else fails I always travel with big sunnies ;)

Big sunnies and big bling, by the time they work out who you are -- you're through immigration ;)

So that is why there are a multitude of Paris Hilton & Lady Gaga lookalikes around airports these days. I either have to change my gender or skin shade.. to morph into.. Mr T. - Big bling!

I do it just to maintain the DYKWIA mystique ;)

And here I was, looking forward to trying J on the QF A380, since I found the "wedgie" seats less than optimal. Now I find out they're eliminating lavatories and adding more pax, never a good combination.

QF 11 in early March '13 is still showing the old configuration, for what it's worth.

OT a bit...but the 'prison scrubs' always amuse me. Generally at least half of the people in first are wearing them before take off, and in most cases, shoes are off too. I assume the same happens in J.

Even if I'm going to wear them, I never put them on until well after take off, and get rid of them well before arrival. It's not a case of worrying about the queue, but the idea of going down a slide in the pjs does does not appeal. I'd reckon on a lovely friction burn. And no shoes for take off or landing is just plain silly.

Safety lesson over.

I don't get why people are mostly very nicely dressed, then get undressed before dark and sit around in very unflattering grey outfits. Surely wait until the lights are dimmed? Would they sit like that in the terminal? If they arrived in trackies and sneakers... I'd understand, but they're often in nice chinos and collard shirt or even a suit - then $1.50 thin grey unfitting PJs???? Weird

My friend in HKG said he saw three female Aussie bogans (his words ;)) proudly wearing them on the train into the city!

Agree. And have never changed or even removed shoes, before take-off and seat belt sign off, since one notable incident some time ago:
Virtually everyone "up the front" had changed before take-off on an LHR-bound flight, then there was a lengthy delay on the tarmac for a technical issue, and finally, we all had to disembark and wait for a replacement aircraft or a later flight (Can't remember which). Suffice to say, there were queues for the loo at that point!

I know, I know, but I want to be comfortable. I realize flop-flops are not ideal footwear for scrambling over flaming wreckage, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

Probably QF crew family travel.
I find that the most obnoxious and loud pax especially on SYD->LAX are discount crew fares.

If travelling HLO, then the less wear and tear on ones 'street' clothing the better. However, I do wait and put mine on ASAP after seat belt sign off and change back after the final meal service before landing.

I was watching The Best in Australia at the weekend and it looked like one of the presenters was wearing a pair on TV, Ben whatisface. At least on Masterchef they were on a plane. He was in a kitchen in Freo!!

Here are some pictures

Have to say, the new Y+ cabin does not look appealing at all. (not anymore than the Y cabin anyway).

Nice post, milehighclub!
I have to say your 4th pic "economy upstairs" reminds me of Star Wars! Row upon row of Jar Jar Binks or some other, large-tongued, extra-terrestrial, drooling there in anticipation of a pre take-off champers!!

Thanks milehighclub for posting those pics - much appreciated!

Must say looking at the pics I am disappointed I lost 38K for 25B in the new config. Will try and score row 24 but it'll be right next to the toilets/galley area by the looks...

Thanks for the pics,

at this stage, both my QF107 (28Aug) and QF94 (10Sept) are showing the old config.

One thing I was wondering, if they do sub the plane for the new config, and my seats which I've selected (11E and 12F) still exist on the new configuration, will my seat request follow through to the new plane config? or does it get reset regardless? (then I might keep an eye on it)

I am thinking you'd be fine - it's thos in rows 24/25 who need to look out.

Looking at the photo's, 36J/K look like interesting seats with side storage etc.
