New Qantas Lounge Heathrow Terminal 3

At a push it’s the sixth best lounge in T3. At T5 there’s the CCR and BA F. I believe there’s one or two lounges in T2 probably better too. Even though the article poses the review as a question instead of a statement the reality is that in no way shape or form is it the best lounge at Heathrow.

I dropped in tonight, for my first visit to the lounge. I've seen the earlier comments, and went in eyes wide open, given I had experienced the old T3 BA lounge many a time (before I cracked the heady heights of WP), but also the CX J and F lounge the past two trips.

IMHO it's great. The staff and service were positive and friendly. I had the salad in the dining area and a drink at the gin bar. I walked around to check out the rest of the area, and there are things lacking like power points which I need for my work. But the question in my mind, was "...is it excellent?" That's where it gets tricky - as I write this sitting in the CX F Lounge. The bubbly stuff is neither here or there for me - although I think there are better Australian sparklings at the same price point - but the ability to sit in a quiet area, with some good food and drink to relax before a 23+ hour flight is something I value.

So kudos to Qantas for providing something light years better than what was available before, but I think they missed the mark on getting the F Lounge experience right, compared to say Melbourne or Sydney.

My general conclusions now that it has been open for a while and any kinks should have been sorted: meh.

The staff were well intentioned but things were fairly ... disorganised.

Brunch menu was fine and my rosti + smoked salmon (with extra poached egg) was nice. However my customisation did confuse them and the order went missing.

Nice flat white although ... my order went missing for this also.

In terms of providing any sense of “place” (aus OR uk) ... it felt pretty generic to me.

The protocol for champagne for p1/first is just silly and cheap. And for Perrier-Jouet why bother? Perhaps if it matched the offerings on board (ideally for me the Sir Winston) ... it might make some sense?

If you are emerald or first ... CX is, as others have noted, the “go”.

In an alarming security breach we can reveal Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamud was able to access the runway at Heathrow despite being on an official terror watchlist.

He took up the job through the SM Global Consultancy Ltd agency on Monday. He arrived at Heathrow Airport on Tuesday and he has been working in airline Qantas’s business and first-class lounge.

It's the new seamless experience for the Dreamliner service. A cold shower before the flight and cold pressed juices once on board.

I think I remember seeing them from using the shower during a lounge visit a few weeks ago. (Note I didn't use a hairdryer so I could be misremembering.)

When the Lounge was just a few days "old", I had to ask for a hairdryer, which was provided after a bit of a wait.
Later, chatting to one of the staff, I discovered that someone had gone out into the retail area and bought one!
I'm fairly sure that I have seen them in the shower area since then.
(If not, you could always ask for another one to be bought. )

You are better off going next door for a shower. Even on my early evening shorthauls to LUX etc I'd make use of CX showers.

Agree. I prefer the CX version, too, although I've not tried the showers there.

The CX showers are supporting their First lounge as well as their business lounge. They may therefore be expected to be better. FWIW, I've only used the CW showers at LHR and certainly had no complaints and never had to queue either.
