PP usually takes a long time to process the application, and they mail it out with SNAIL mail from HK which doesn't help at all.

+1 - I opted to pick mine up in HK to avoid this!

Made a call re the PP; after 15 minutes mainly on hold, I was advised that AX submitted my details to PP on 7th March and it's expected 14-21 business (??) days after that for PP to respond to me directly.

My planned use is for 2nd April. :(
Well blow me down!

Arrived home to find a letter from PP in Hong Kong with a card. It was sent 9th March, so most definitely 'sub-snail mail' Diesellife.

As far as usage goes, the card gets read each time I use it; any guest or personal uses over the two 'free' during 12 months will result in USD27 being automatically charged to the related AMEX.

Agree with this, this is the same even if buying direct from them. They're verrrrrrrrry slow to do things.

Other notes are - the card is valid for three years, expiring March 2014.

I guess if nothing else changes any "unused" pass will expire and two more added in March 2012.

Is the concierge for this card the same as the plat charge card?

i'm struggling to justify my charge card when most of my expenses are on the CC... I just really like the concierge as i rarely make restaurant bookings 4 weeks in advance...

Edit: just realised that the cc didn't earn qf points... i am a dumbf@$%

I can't recall how quickly I received my first card but over the next six months I received two more cards...each with same number and expiry date. Can't explain this. I have used the cards on different occasions.

Most like Virgin in Sydney have swiped the cards over electronic readers. At other lounges, the cards been manually swiped, the old way. Too, the card details have been recorded by hand (in the Delta lounge in LAX.)

Are you referring to Priority Pass cards? I've received several of those.

Same, I have 4 of them in 1.5 years.
Im confused whether they are all valid or just the latest one is valid... lol

Now comes with 30K bonus points

American Express®

Have been thinking about getting the Edge but most of my travel this year booked except a trip to Queenstown (at look at that it's one of the fre flight destimations from Sydney) and no real need for an internal flight (plus Virgin no longer cheap) have been holding out for a bonus on the Reserve and just noticed there now is one.

Offer only available to new Platinum Reserve Credit Card members who apply, are approved by 30 September 2011 and spend $500 in the first 2 months of Card membership. Please allow 8-10 weeks after the $500 spend benchmark has been met for the 30,000 Membership Rewards bonus points to be awarded to the Card member's account.

At current conversion rate, usd27 is much less in local currency. So, not too bad for occasional user of lounges.

Has anyone been able to ascertain if second PP card can be issued to supplementary cardholder.

I'm hesitant to take up Citi's Select card (Visa) as It too comes with PP card but I was informed that it may be issued to primary cardholder only.

Offer available to brand new to American Express Platinum Reserve Credit . what does this term mean? if you are already any amex card member you cant get the 40k points?

From a bit of a search there are quite a few affinity programs which offer 40K points and reduced fee ($295). Interestingly quite a few of these pages can be accessed by non-members of the affinity group and note that the T&C's of those I have looked at don't say that membership is a requirement though they do note that affinity group may get a benefit and will be notified of members name. Would be interesting to know if anyone has applied for an affinity card as a non-member, I seem to remember a friend saying they succefully got a card through their partners membership! Anyone else had any success with this? Not sure that affinity groups would mind if they are being paid a fee!

Also, I've sent off the activation for the PP membership. Will use the two entries over a year (and they will come in handy), but at $US27 for additional entries, I'm not really sure I'll use it any other times.

7 months and 3 separate faxes to Amex finally got my PP membership application accepted for processing.

But now that it's in the system, I have been promised quick delivery of the card.

I have got a letter today from AMEX, inviting me to upgrade to the engineers australia platimun reserve card with 0 annul fee for the first year and $295 P.a after.

I was wondering whether it is worth of upgrading to the platinum card for the first year and downgrade to the gold card later.

For those who are using this card, is it worth of paying $295 a year to keep using it.
Thank you very much for your advice.

Card still took 18 days to be delivered from application ...

Thanks Amex! (At least it was sent "Airmail" ).

yes you are lucky if you got that offer. i would take advantage of it and use the free flight and get the 40k points and then convert it back to a EA gold credit card after 1 year. I had to pay $295 for my EA card and still havent gotten the 40k points after 10 weeks

I don't think the upgrade offer gives you 40K points, isn't that for new AMEX customers.
