I'm also wondering about the PP upgrade. I spoke to platinum service and they couldn't give me a straight answer and haven't chased it up since.

Fine point, but to me the additional insurance is worth very little, so the reserve card fee of $395 plus an additional ~$300 to upgrade PP would be better value than the charge card.

This is totally your choice so that is why I'm just trying to make sure you have all the appropriate information.

There is a lot more to the Plat Charge Card than the PP membership. have you looked at this thread. Platinum Card, what will i get for $900

Spoke with Platinum Charge Cards service today - I have the charge, plus the free Credit card.

A few have mentioned earlier what's the point of the two PP memberships - a full one with the charge, and the partial one with the Reserve card.

I've asked if they can give the partial PP membership from the Reserve card to a supplementary card holder. Expecting a call back tomorrow - will let you know how I go.

The extra $205 for the charge card is definitely worth it to get full PP membership, particularly if you travel o/s, with all the other benefits. The o/s travel insurance policy is the best in the business (and in my opinion is better than most policies you can purchase - which are often around $1000-$1500 or even more) - not that I'm providing any sort of financial advice here!

The concierge is great, the other insurance benefits (purchase protection) much cheaper than paying for extended warranties, the LDW insurance for overseas car rentals saves around $20-30 a day, and the ability to transfer your points to Qantas (which you can't do with the platinum credit cards, unless you opted in at the changeover).

And remember, you still get the benefits of the free credit card as well, with the free flight or hotel stay, and the points earned on that card are still combined with the same account as those from the charge card.

Definitely worth the extra, as opposed to paying to upgrade the PP membership.

Just my 2 cents worth ...

Yea please let me know :) I was thinking of the same thing!

Has anyone who applied for their PriorityPass membership received it yet?

From memory (For my charge card), it took them about 1 month for the PP membership application. The card was sent from HK via the slowest mail :(

That's pretty standard, even if buying a membership from PP. They're verrrrrrrrry slow.

The free flights I booked using the card ended up in R Class. They didn't earn Velocity points.

It's now 3.5 months since I faxed off my application form to Amex... Yep, 14 weeks. Is this the type of timeframe to expect, or should I phone them up and give them a "gentle" reminder...

Edit: (Originally thought it was only 8 weeks, but now I realise it's over 12 I will have to definitely give them a nice phonecall and ask why they are so incompetent.)

Like an earlier poster I obatained a Charge Card....and the Priority card was a month or less.

I applied about a fornight before leaving for 3 weeks in Thailand...and it was amongst my kept mail on my return.

I am now looking at 8 weeks since applying - did yours eventually arrive? (It's two weeks before I may be able to use it.)

AMA have the same deal. However, look at the tab "Upgrade" - states that if you are already an Amex member, and apply ONLINE for Platinum Reserve and are approved before 30 April 2011, you get 25000 points (it look like either MR points or Qantas FF - need to check this).

Not quite 40K points, but better than nothing.

I think I'll get this one. $295 per year is what I'd spend on the hotel room anyway, and priority pass (even at pay-per-visit) is nice. But the 1.25point per dollar is what I'm after. I get travel insurance supplied externally anyway so the fact that its a mediocre product is neither here nor there.

Made a call re the PP; after 15 minutes mainly on hold, I was advised that AX submitted my details to PP on 7th March and it's expected 14-21 business (??) days after that for PP to respond to me directly.

My planned use is for 2nd April. :(

Took a few weeks to process mine couple months ago, still no 75K points, they tell me it would be about another 3 to 4 weeks to arrive in my QFF account.

PP usually takes a long time to process the application, and they mail it out with SNAIL mail from HK which doesn't help at all.
