WOW!

The exact product Virgin should have! The IFE is what should have been fitted throughout the fleet for starters but looks bloody fantastic!

Watch out Qantas!

Go John & your team, squash the little Irish gnome!:p

I do hope DJ read some of the responses here on this thread (and others). Is AFF a representative slice of the flying public I wonder?

If so....
a) RED is a winner for ife (which apparantly allows for future upgrade)
b) J product must be delivered consistantly
c) J f&b must be consistantly good with choice
d) J meal times need to be consistant with normal peoples expectation of meal times
e) Food offerings generally need to be rotated frequently

I wouldn't have thought those requirements would be difficult to attend to actually.

To be fair, 'd)' does mirror Qantas Domestic somewhat; although a QF 'snack' in Business may be more substantial than a DJ business 'snack' (even though you can ask for a menu item on DJ).

Well done Virgin.
Mr John B seemed to be all class in that brief clip. I think that AJ would definitely feel threatened by Virgins advance into the premium market.

SQ A380, Upper Deck J would be a dream, if you can fit it somehow....

Freudian slip Markis? :D....ps, it's tid..t.i.d

Does anyone else think the incline on the sloped beds is a little steep? Or is that not how it's supposed to lie?
i wonder what type of 'slant' (total pun intended) the virgin PR dept will adopt to advertise this 'ski slope' product...it certainly looks more angled than QF skybed mkI..maybe something along the lines of..."SLIDE ACROSS AUSTRALIA WITH VIRGIN" or "WANT MORE FUN ON YOUR PER-SYD? TAKE THE SLIPPERY SLOPE WITH VIRGIN" :D

As long as they include stick on velcro tabs for your clothes / velcro PJ's or velcro slippers, we should all be right

hehe..but no amount of velcro on the outside will stop the infamous 'undies incidents' that occur when sliding down!! ooops!!!

Your last point raises one more point I think DJ really does have to do to be considered a real full service airline.........

f) get rid of the pay for food service

If DJ fed everyone, it would make them a real full service airline, free up FA time to enable real service to occur and let's face it, DJ already charge full service fares, even on their cheapest fare buckets, so it would remove complaints from those like me who see nothing much other than dearer fares. It may even give us that further option of justifying the "V" in BVFOD (Best Value Fare on Day....thanks to oz-mark).

Does anyone have any idea of what kind of profit DJ make from the f&b sales in -Y?

And don't forget to include a checked bag. IMO, as long as it's a pay for food and/or bags system, then you're still a LCC.

ummm, you pay for food and baggage on QF - you just dont have a choice.

Loved the 15g biscuit that was my snack SYD to ADL yesterday. So full service carrier.
And the pumkin dip and crostini when you're starving at 5:55pm. At least when VA do it, you can buy a sanga or a chocolate. The only issue is sanga at dinner for flexis - should be a hot thing like QF do.

Now VA has 4 totally different J products.

Yep, this is going to end up causing them more issues! I think two products, domestic J, international J or you could possibly add a third which is regional J ala Singapore for Asian flights and transcontinental.

I have been waiting for DJ to start wide bodies for my regular transcontinental flights as I don't fly out of Sydney. Tried DJ on the 738's but they don't compare with qantas, even the old 767's are more comfortable. Now hopefully I will have a choice, and will probably move all my flying over to DJ, depending also on scheduling.

I Imagine there will be a few similar.

Still a way to go before they catch up to Qantas

It does look good for a domestic J though!
more 'spin' on JBs behalf...i will place a bet on this new product being introduced in preparation for virgins entry into more direct/longer 'regional' flying...QF/SQ/CX and i'm sure others, all use 'slopes' on their regional fleets..but in the meantime we will be able to experience it on the occassional east/west coast flight..

Of course as an international/regional carrier SQ is just weeny bit bigger than VA. About 110 aircraft compared to about 7. I have been on the new SQ regional J seat which is excellent and in fact a better product than VA run on their 777's except for the angle. I think it may be able to come in a fully flat variant which could go into the VA777's eventually. Just speculation.

So, l take it that you'd fly on these to HNL (VA J), if the price was similar to QF J? No double sc either (;))
