I'll post this here ....

My first flight in FIRST by QANTAS was such a let-down, it certainly won't happen again.

QF1 on A380 .....

You think they'd call pax in the F lounge .... no, they didn't.

You'd think they'd call for F pax to board first .... no, they didn't.

You'd think that after holding a 'Mexican stand-off' at the gate, advising, that if I wasn't one of the first on ....I WILL BE THE LAST ON ..... and I will stand here and wait for the very last boarding call, and then 'stuff around' looking for my boarding pass !!! ......... that I would get some attention ????
( this was DURING the flood of economy pax boarding ).

I wasn't even asked if I wanted my suit jacket hung up .... much less offered 'compensation' of a bottle of something .....

QANTAS First ???

Never again. I've been far better treated on Emirates Business.

Did you at least get a spa treatment (or just spa-rse treatment)?

The issues are self inflicted.

You seriously had a “mexican stand off” with staff where you also threatened to delay boarding (pretending you couldn’t find your boarding pass)? Why would you do that?

Boarding announcements in F Lounge? Why? Many people don’t want such announcements interrupting a calm environment.

A “bottle” for “compensation” because of your jacket? It’s first class. Push the button and tell them to hang it up.

It would not surprise me if staff hadn’t “flagged” you as someone who was set on not being pleased.

No, you have mis-interpreted what I am saying.

"Compensation" should be for the poor boarding experience.

I've had bottles of French offered for simply changing seats after boarding in J.

Trying to understand if there was some sort of argument at the gate with the gate agents, or you experienced priority boarding QF style  It's not entirely clear.

Actually it would give them time to start looking for any checked in luggage, off load and take off without you.

The activities described lately in this thread appear to have an eerily similar mentality to those we saw displayed in the BankWest thread a few years ago.

Hmmm ... Qantas are supposed to have a policy to contact First Flyers the day before to do thing like book a spa treatment. It seems this did not happen.

Qantas are supposed to make a call in the Qantas lounge when Qantas flights are boarding.

Qantas are supposed to call and board First passengers as a priority when boarding commences. This includes first passengers arriving at the gate after boarding has commenced.

Any of that preceded any "stand off".

It’s really strange - when I have flown first on Qantas out of Australia, I have always been phoned by the F host, the day before to organise the Spa treatments and ask if there was anything else we needed.

On entering the lounge they took our boarding passes and when the flight was called, they came and told us and gave us back our boarding passes. Been awhile as we have moved to other carriers but seems strange if it has changed that much?

Some of this doesn’t make sense seeing it’s F Lounge Sydney.

I’m pretty sure there were if at all occasional boarding calls for individuals and a sign saying no boarding calls will be made. Perhaps others can confirm it one way or the other

Loved the food
Loved the champagne

Never had a poor experience here although I did once when booked on QF81, get checked in downstairs to a ‘domestic flight’ and got through all the international barriers and upto the F lounge before being asked why I was there. Needed to drag out the original booking document and stuff got fixed but bags got left in Sydney.

Some of the boarding arrangements particularly for F & J were a separate door ?

That said, I didn’t fly first cabin but I note from other posts, the best thing was the comfort of the bed, the rest of service was crew dependant with some good and some poor.

I agree if you’re paying the $$ asked by Qantas you want the perfect seamless experience
And here it is....

Well, looks like the usual 'agree or sarcastically disagree' style of responses here.

Geez, you can't post anything that some over-entitled forum member thinks doesn't fit the thread ....

To clarify a few points ....

No phone arrangenent the day before.
No out-of-the-ordinary treatment in F lounge, in the lead up to boarding .... to include no announcement.
No F / J announcement at the gate.

After the hoard commenced the rush forward, I approached a staff member to point out my issue. Their attitude sparked my response.

If any of you consider that a $4,707. airfare passenger SHOULD be treated like that .... then you can have it all to yourselves. I won't be there again .....
