I was looking at my spreadsheet of flights, and for some reason ran a query on which airlines I travelled most frequently. Surprisingly, Ansett still came in at No. 2 on the list.

My top 5 are:

QF (by a factor of 10 x more than AN)
AN
SQ
ZL (mostly Rex, but a small no of Hazelton)
AA

What do others have in their top 5?

I only have reliable records for the last 3 years.

1: Qantas by a country mile. -- 30%

2: Cathay Pacific, Virgin Blue and Jetstar. -- 10% each

3: TAM and LAN Chile. -- 7.5% each

4: Swiss and Iberia. -- 5% each

5: British Airways, Rex and Air Tahiti Nui. -- 2.5% each

No exact records, but for the last 4 or so years the order would be:

Sky West is understandable. Arrow Air is a little less obvious - there must be a story there somewhere.

QF 45%
DJ 5%
AN 4%
NZ 3.3%
SQ 3.3%

I never stick to one airline and will try a different one if the schedule fits.

By flights over the past 20 months:

QF - 25
CX - 20
AA - 16
BA - 14
KA - 4

By miles flown

QF - 74,203
CX - 70,514
BA - 46,241
AA - 39,269
KA - 4,036

That actually surprised - I didnt think I had flown QF that much...

AY 13.04%
BA 4.89%
AA 3.80%
OA 3.26%

And TW, JL, EK, LX, LA, TL and TG airlines I have flown once!

% approx

QF - 50%
CX - 20%
JL - 10%
BA - 10%
AY - 5%
SQ - 5%

Umm no story with Arrow Air. Where do you get JW = Arrow Air? Can two airlines have the same code?

I used expertflyer to find JW, but now on a closer look it is coming up as JW'

Anyway, it is Skippers Aviation whom fly their commercial flights as JW code numbers.

QF (mainly Qantaslink)
AN (mainly Kendell)
JQ
AA + American Eagle
NZ
UA

Next Year I'll give MA and IB a workout

For my last 2 calendar years:
Code:
QF	BA	JQ	AA	CX	DJ
75.14%	3.95%	3.39%	14.69%	1.13%	1.13%

JW=Arrow Air came from here.

Yes, it can happen that two airlines have the same code so long as the issuing authority believes there is no likelihood of them operating in the same region. This happened with TN.
