If booking FJ to TYO - would it be reasonable to expect that the fares would be pretty good in Jan/Feb as I can't see too many Fijian's being into skiing? Or does FJ jack the prices up for ski season?

I've got a friend who has never flown internationally and doesn't even know what a SC is who wants to travel to Japan next Jan/Feb for some skiing - I've set her up with a QFF account, and I'm going to search for some airfares for her when she is ready. FJ via NAN to Tokyo might hopefully be a reasonably affordable way for her to get to Japan and earn some reasonable SC's at the same time.

Yes, but unfortunately, this routing in J has price variations of thousands of $$$ depending on the date. So hopefully one of the cheaper fares would be available for the preferred dates.

I haven't looked at J - first overseas trip so I figured Y all the way or else she won't ever want to fly Y

In Y flying CX looked a reasonable option, Garuda was $877 return but I'm not a Garuda fan.

After checking out the QF earning tables, it looks like that any partner airline credited to your QFF account will earn fewer credits than what you'd get if QF (or JQ with the extra package) fly the same route; would that be correct?

I was looking at flying possibly flying to Korea. I know that JQ is an option, I'm open to alternatives if I can get a decent amount of SCs for it.

After using the QF calculator, it looks like intra-Asia flights are credited at a higher status credit rate.

I haven't flown 1W in eastern Asia before (I usually fly with SQ), and I'd like to credit my flights to my QFF account.

I'd appreciate some notes from those in the know.

1W meaning one world? (the usual abbreviation for that would be ‘OW’)

Yes, fair assumption that QF and JQ will earn more SCs than flying partners, which is designed to encourage you to fly QF and JQ rather than another OW partner.

You’ll get some advantage by connecting via HKG with the SCs adding up per sector. But otherwise you’d possibly be looking to fly QF or JQ to the asian gateway.

Basically, yes QF will penalise you for daring to fly with other partners into and out of Australia.
The main reason I abandoned the QF program

The question I quoted was about prices, not SC. You need to check the Qantas site for SC earn rates on partners.

Yes - no reason for FJ to display QFF SC earn - if they did that then they would be expected to also display the earn for every other OW partner's FF program too. Best to use the QF site calculator and then cross check it on the partner airline earning tables.

Best one would be to fly QF Aus - HKG, and then just go with anything with CX from there to ICN.
