BNE-NAD-TYO return. Have to work out the SC's.
If booking FJ to TYO - would it be reasonable to expect that the fares would be pretty good in Jan/Feb as I can't see too many Fijian's being into skiing? Or does FJ jack the prices up for ski season?
True. I've got a friend who has never flown internationally and doesn't even know what a SC is who wants to travel to Japan next Jan/Feb for some skiing - I've set her up with a QFF account, and I'm going to search for some airfares for her when she is ready. FJ via NAN to Tokyo might hopefully be a reasonably affordable way for her to get to Japan and earn some reasonable SC's at the same time. The best answer to your question is found on fijiairways.com
Yes, but unfortunately, this routing in J has price variations of thousands of $$$ depending on the date. So hopefully one of the cheaper fares would be available for the preferred dates.True. I haven't looked at J - first overseas trip so I figured Y all the way or else she won't ever want to fly YYes, but unfortunately, this routing in J has price variations of thousands of $$$ depending on the date. So hopefully one of the cheaper fares would be available for the preferred dates.
Or, perhaps it doesn't matter if money's no object?
1W meaning one world? (the usual abbreviation for that would be ‘OW’)After checking out the QF earning tables, it looks like that any partner airline credited to your QFF account will earn fewer credits than what you'd get if QF (or JQ with the extra package) fly the same route; would that be correct?
I was looking at flying possibly flying to Korea. I know that JQ is an option, I'm open to alternatives if I can get a decent amount of SCs for it.
After using the QF calculator, it looks like intra-Asia flights are credited at a higher status credit rate.
I haven't flown 1W in eastern Asia before (I usually fly with SQ), and I'd like to credit my flights to my QFF account.
I'd appreciate some notes from those in the know.
Basically, yes QF will penalise you for daring to fly with other partners into and out of Australia. After checking out the QF earning tables, it looks like that any partner airline credited to your QFF account will earn fewer credits than what you'd get if QF (or JQ with the extra package) fly the same route; would that be correct?
Tried but fiji airways give no indication of SC's; i think i have to refer back to QF site calculator for that hey? Unless I missed it on FJ site...The best answer to your question is found on fijiairways.com

Yes - no reason for FJ to display QFF SC earn - if they did that then they would be expected to also display the earn for every other OW partner's FF program too. Best to use the QF site calculator and then cross check it on the partner airline earning tables.Tried but fiji airways give no indication of SC's; i think i have to refer back to QF site calculator for that hey? Best one would be to fly QF Aus - HKG, and then just go with anything with CX from there to ICN.After checking out the QF earning tables, it looks like that any partner airline credited to your QFF account will earn fewer credits than what you'd get if QF (or JQ with the extra package) fly the same route; would that be correct?

So, in order to maximise SCs, it looks like it's QF (or JQ with package) out, then continuing with CX from HKG to get to ICN.
Thanks @sudoer - I will add this to the list of options to consider.Yes, or if you don't mind an indirect routing, you could book something like SYD/MEL-DPS on QF, the DPS-HKG-ICN on CX for even more SC.
Another trick, is to go to DPS, but then, on a separate booking, do MH from DPS -> KUL -> ICN, think its 160 QFF SC in J, (one way)/less on Y fares of course, but still better than MH flights in any class from Aus, (as this does not involve to and from Aus MH flight, MH, so they will earn a bit more).

VOA fee of course, is a pain for Indonesia, KUL does not have it, just another option.
This is misleading and poor advice.
QFF limited intra-Asia MH SC earn on I and Z class Business fares a few years ago. These Business fares now credit as Flexible Economy, even on routes where Qantas does not compete.
Only the more expensive D, C and J Business fares credit at full Business rates - but these fares generally offer poor $/SC value.
I'm a little bit confused now: I thought that booking intra-Asia MH flights in J credited to QFF at higher than flexible economy?
