There is a video floating around of a 737 taking off Perth with no flap also. They then retracted flap mid abort with corresponding reverse which isn’t required.

ATSB is not investigating the one JB quoted nor the flapless takeoff. I don’t quite get the bit about the pilot thinking he was on the wrong runway which I assume they thought they were rolling 27. No chart at Melbourne has such left turn just airborne. I mean I assume they had the chart in front of them for 27 there isn’t a hard left on there. Quite dangerous should some other innocent have just departed of 27 beforehand which is quite common.

What actually is the job of the ATSB? Both are worthy of an investigation.

Malindo does provide some options. Sounds like an interesting airline. However,I think that I will stick with QF for the time being.

The best thing with Malindo is the Jetstar price beat. It can be same day as JQ not the domestic rule of within an hour.

Rarely flown JQ and forgot about that option. Just hoped the pilot on my flight is an experienced one that would diligently go through his checklist! With such bad records, why are they still allowed to fly here?

Anyone flown them yet? How strict are they on the hand luggage, do they weigh every single bag?

I haven't flown them from ADL, but when I flew them from BNE I don't recall them weighing hand luggage.

Because CASA is not their regulator, and has virtually no say over their operations.

Well shortly after Malindo Air announced flights to Adelaide, Jetstar announced it would go double-daily on ADL-DPS from July until October this year. They've added an early morning departure from Adelaide and an afternoon flight back from Denpasar.

Some might call this anti-competitive. Either way, more flight choices are good for Adelaide residents in the short term.

Jetstar used to have Virgin then Tiger to compete with on ADL-DPS. Had they increased when Tiger pulled out instead of running a monopoly they Malindo not have bothered.
