We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Quick query - in terms of QF F lounge access in SYD, does QF actively enforce the 'must be travelling on same flight' rule as opposed to one also travelling on QF but different flight?

My own recent experience is that it's no longer strictly enforced.
Definitely worth asking when you get there

I agree. They are usually pretty flexible if you ask nicely.

Thanks to you both for your prompt replies. If I was successful in chancing it (from the AFF Dec meetup thread) I'd be in there for around 10 hours (!!) and in all honesty I'm more of a J food person than the F..except maybe F chips! (I did F on QF coming back last year from LHR and had one of the FA's in a bit of a quandry as I only had one glass of champagne and stuck to eating the Steak Sandwiches - nothing much else from the menu until breakfast! )

They may ignore that rule if you ask nicely.

A few months back I was that close to getting a Platinum One into the First lounge who was flying First on *Alliance so he went over to the SQ lounge. If he was there with me they may have turned a blind eye.

My son is travelling J to Santiago with Qantas and my daughter has booked Y on the same flight but through LAN. Neither have status so I am wondering if he will be able to take her into the lounge

I guess the wording suggest that the answer is yes.
"Qantas International Business
Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas marketed flight. (QF flight number)

One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight."

It says same flight without specifying same flight number.

Both boarding passes will be printed on Qantas paper and a small note on your daughter's BP will say "sold as LA xx_", so the lounge dragon may not even notice.

Are you OWE? (QF Platinum, for example) Then you'll have access to the Flagship Lounge, otherwise looks like it's the Admirals Club.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I have the impression that the wording is changing constantly. As a QF WP, do I have access to the QF First lounge in SYD when flying on a QF flight number for a flight operated by SB (non-oneworld airline). I could swear the access rules use to say "travelling on a QF flight number", but now the syntax is just weird.
I also just noticed that WP1 now have access when flying on a OW flight number operated by a non-OW airline.

Platinum One Frequent Flyer	Next onward flight must be on a Qantas^, Emirates^, Jetstar Airlines+ or oneworld flight number.# One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight.

WP used to get first lounge access purely by dint of a QF flight number (e.g. so could access with a Fiji Airlines operated flight as long as it was booked on the QF codeshare).

Now it has to be *O/EK/Jetstar metal as well, so that counts out access with those Fiji Airlines operated codeshares.

That is an "enhancement" in the true meaning we have come to know ... ...

I'm flying SYD-NOU next Friday on QF361 (SB141) and I really hope I have access to the F lounge.

Red Roo could you please clarify. When flying on a QF flight number does a QF Platinum member get access to QF First lounge? I had access last year flying QF361.

The QF app tells me that I can relax in the First lounge...so I will take that as a confirmation.

Melbourne lounge access

Hi All,
Flying out of Melb Int on 23 Jan, on CX178 in PE. Id like to know if there is a way to access Cathays lounge or any other lounge? I have a Priority Pass membership but United Club is closed at that time.
Never flown Cathay before I'm cheating on my singapore girl for the first time .

I'm flying ADL to SEA next week on Qantas to LAX, then to and from SEA on Alaskan airlines with QF flight numbers.
I'm guessing my baggage allowance of 2 x 22kg is good on Alaskan, but I'm wondering if I get access to their lounge as I have a 5 hour layover at LAX.
Anyone able to help?

Yes, QF has an agreement with AS to access the Boardroom at LAX T6. Apparently QF is unaware of the agreement...
The agreement is ONLY for LAX.

I just went into the AS Boardroom at SEA 5 minutes ago and the angel/dragon confirmed that only the Boardroom in LAX is accessible to QF PAX with status. The agreement is still alive and they know about it!

She didn't let me in though as a WP flying F on AA. So I went to a sports bar next door and ordered a beer and the waitress asked me the usual "Do you want a shot with your beer? The second shot of Jacks is half price with a beer." Never understood that habit of drinking beer and bourbon simultaneously..:shock:
