Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

I presume by "points" you mean "status".

There is no paid entry - it is possible the one without "enough points" could be guested but more information is needed.
Sorry I meant they are telling me the other members will be using points to get in.
They mentioend its 15k points s for lounge access
They're not regular travellers so they might be barking up the wrong tree

I also dont know much about lounges....

15K point entry? Have they received an offer from Qantas?

Better off buying entry to PP type lounges - 15K points is worth at least AUD100, even by QF's meagre valuation - I'd rate it Much much more in value.

I wonder - is this thing still running / under trial, or it was abandoned?
Qantas is now selling airport lounge passes

Thanks for the quick reply!
Doesn’t that page refer to lounge acces BETWEEN flights? I know I have access in HKG due to the 2nd flight being in J. This would be in BNE prior to any travel commencing. Apologies if I’ve missed something on the one world page that addresses this.

Both flights on CX with a 90min connection if that wasn’t clear from my OP.

So the good news is that I’m currently sipping a late night beer in the QF International J lounge in BNE. The bad(??) news is that although I was let in without any issues at all I’m unsure if it was because I was eligible per the OW rules or because the guy at the door was just a good bloke. o_O

Thanks for reporting back. It's a shame we can't be sure why you were allowed in. Lounge access rules have confused me from day one and they've only become more confusing.

The rules are clear IMHO.

Plenty of comment on FT re this - basically successful with access.

No status, a long haul flight in F/J and a domestic or short haul international flight, same day = Lounge Access available before both departures.

Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:

First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).
Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
You must be prepared to show your boarding pass or itinerary showing travel in First or Business class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight.

But the clight from BNE to HKG is over 5 hours and so under that rule wouldn't be classified as an 'international short haul' flight? This is why it is always confusing.

Good morning,

I have an upcoming flight departing from Christchurch where I was hoping to use the lounge.

My flight leaves at 1330 however the lounge is advertised as closed from 0800 - 1345.

Is there another lounge I can use or is it just bad luck ? I have no status. Just flying Business Class on Qantas.

Are you getting those times off the QF website? If so I think they are wrong as my brother was there only a few weeks ago and said the lounge opens at 11:30am

Hi Jase. Yes, I am just going by the times on the Qantas website. If it opens at 11:30 that will be perfect. Cheers

Coming to this thread late... I suspect it was a case of the guy on the front desk being a good bloke :)

Definitely no lounge access under OW rules as the departure flight was more than 5 hours and not in a premium cabin eligible for lounge access.

I suspect that too but was no indication other than hunch. Also suspected the rules were as you say but obviously there was some confusion on this thread.

Hi there,

As part of a 280K one world award I'm flying the following with AA (LAN for the CUN-BOG flight)

1. LAX -MIA-CUN-BOG (overnight transit in Miami) and coming back
2. BOG-DFW-MIA-LGA (all on the same day)

What access will I have at MIA prior to the Cancun flight and DFW where I have a 5 hour stopover before connecting to the domestic flight back to Miami. I'm not worried about LAX with a 6am departure and assume I can use the LAN lounge in BOG as I've done in the past.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I will have dropped back down to Silver by the time I take these flights. Currently Gold

Two things. If you are flying within three months of being downgraded from Gold I think you may have qantas club extended for that period of time. At least that's the way QF used to work, not sure if it still the case? That would get you access to AAmirals Club lounges.

Secondly, the AFF newsletter today has an excellent - if not complicated - summary of lounge access eligibility in the USA. That's probably as good a place as any to start to see if it answers your questions (business class flights to Mexico (except for MEX) for example don't get lounge access on US carriers).

Hi I'm a member of the Qantas club soon flying to the USA and using AA as my internal flights as a member of the Qantas club can I use the AA lounges, I saw and article on your Home page but did not answer what I was looking for.
