Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

I did try for access in the PX Paradise lounge in POM but was refused. The lady stated access OK if on a QF tix on a code share flight (PX metal) but not for QF WP on a PX tix a PX metal. I assumed this would be the case, but thought I'd try.

A further update on POM Paradise lounge access. My recent flight was a QF whY tix on PX metal and my WP status was permitted lounge access. I also asked for access for my +1 and 16YO daughter and the lounge dragon initially refused citing one guest only. As we were about to walk away, she said out of the blue, "you can go in"!

So asking politely can gain access for 2 + child, however I think this is probably unusual as empathy often does not feature highly in typical PNG decision making.

Priority check in, boarding and luggage was all accepted without problem and the luggage beat us to the carousel.

I'm trying to determine whether I (plus 2.5 family members) will have lounge access in LAX on the outbound flight travelling to SJD on AA in business class (QFF award). My inbound flight to LAX (same day) is in QF J and the family members QF PE.

TIA.

Any status? Without status, oneworld rules will allow the inbound long-haul J class to access the lounge before the SJD flight. No guests.

With status, normal rules apply.

No status unfortunately.

Just to confirm, the business class flights LAX-SJD won't get us access to AA lounge?

To the AA lounges for an itinerary purely LAX-SJD - no. Only flights to MEX are eligible for that. I don't know about the other OW or Qantas lounges whether you can get access to those?

For the inbound long-haul business class passenger (from Aus) that will give you lounge access to the AA lounge by virtue of OW connecting rules.

See AA club access rules: Admirals Club access − Clubs − American Airlines and the section on qualifying F and J tickets (includes MEX only):

Easy enough to visit the oneworld business class lounge at TBIT I guess.

Robd barring any lounge entry, what is your layover or ground time between flights at LAX

I wouldn't be a very nice person if I left my family outside the OW Lounge.

I've got 5 hours between flights.

I was going to suggest getting a airport hotel day room after rechecking in your luggage. Day room is a hotel room but at the day rate 8-5pm which is a bit cheaper than overnight rate.

About $200 AUD usually

Free airport shuttles to one of several hotels nearby a shower, dining

If only 5 hours ground time you likely only have about 3 hours at hotel.

The oneworld connecting rules don't provide for business class pax to guest. But you could buy 2 x AA day passes at USD59 each. The one day pass allows up to three children aged under 18 free entry.

I'm slightly confused though... above you said you were all flying business class LAX-SJD? Or is it just one of you? Regardless, I'd be surprised if the QF or OW lounge allowed access for J class to SJD if AA itself denies entry. AA would be paying for the lounge and they exclude it. But this is where another AFFer with more experience of LAX lounges would be your best bet.

Yes, we are all flying J LAX-SJD. From MEL-LAX, I am in J and family are in PE. Bookings were done separately.

Ok, on that basis, AA lounges don't allow access by virtue of a J ticket to SJD. You can get access by virtue of the inbound loung haul. One or two AA lounge passes should do the trick for the others (if the children are under 18).

I read on the Qantas website that as a platinum FF you can access the Emirates lounge as long as you are traveling on an EK or QF flight. I was flying J on a QF flight but got turned away from the Emirates lounge in Beijing

One other important qualifier, you must have a ticket issued by Qantas, i.e. the ticket number starts with 081.

That’s because QF and EK joint venture arrangement do not extend to all airports with serviced by EK
