Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Thank you for confirming. (I have actually tried that number on a number of occasions with no luck connecting, but I shouldn’t need it now with your confirmation).

Hi - hope this is the right place. I've booked my daughter a flight out of Rome to Perth (Premium Econ) to Melbourne (Economy) - all on the same booking, and all on Qantas (ie QF6 and QF10 respectively).

I've tried to set up a complimentary lounge invitation for her to visit the Perth domestic lounge, but when I try to link the invitation, it comes up with an "You are unable to redeem a lounge invitation on this occasion" error.

So - does Perth domestic allow for complimentary lounge inviations? Or is the problem because it's all on the one booking and the system is confused I'm trying to set it up for the Rome departure?

I'm happy to call Qantas to see if I can do it that way, but any advice appreciated

Is the PER “international” lounge at T3 available? That’s the lounge for Int to Int transits in PER.

It doesn't seem to be - according to her booking, she lands at T3, but then is departing at T4 out of Perth to Melbourne.

I'm not aware of any lounge restrictions for Perth domestic - starting to suspect I might need to call Qantas to sort out

Someone may offer recent experience but I thought QF10 (and the continuation of QF6) depart from T3 as domestic legs of international flights (arriving at MEL Int and SYD Int respectively) but I could be wrong.

What aircraft type is she on for PER to MEL?

If a 787 I've never seen that at T4. That being said, T3 and T4 are just different ends of one (not overly large) building. I don't know why they just don't refer to it as a single terminal to avoid confusion.

QF10 certainly arrives at T3. I've always got off there as I live in PER. I can't imagine they're going to move the aircraft to a different gate. Pretty sure MEL bound pax don't clear customs and immigration PER.

Morning - she's indeed on a 787 for both QF6 (Rom-Per) and QF10 (Per-Melb). The only thing I'm not sure off is whether that's the same plane which will make the Per-Syd run the same day.

At any rate - looks like a call to Qantas or failing that, bidding for her to have an upgrade to Business for Per-Melb, and thereby getting her access regardless.

Cheers all!

Flying J on CX178 in 4 weeks, departing 11.50pm.
Any advice on lounge access as I believe Qantas lounge may be closed as I think QF93 is the last Q metal for the day?

Nope the QF lounge is open for QF155 the 11:25pm departure.

In 4 weeks time it'll be operating daily so assuming your departure is between 27 Aug and 3 Sep then the QF lounge will be open, worth noting that only the right hand side is open with very limited food.

CX may also offer a voucher to "The House" instead and I suspect basically every aspect of it would be better than the QF basement at that time of night.

Thanks @henrus , I had only looked at today's last QF flight.
We go 5 September, will see what happens!
I had read that CX were directing pax to The House but that was sometime ago when flights were less frequent.

QF155 operates 5 September meaning the QF lounges will be open at that time:

Nope, the house is still listed on Cathay's website:
It actually mentions on the above page "All eligible Cathay passengers travel on Cathay Pacific flight CX178".

Excellent thanks @henrus
I will give both a go, though am familiar with what can be on offer very early and late in the day at Q!
Will report on my experience in 4/52

QF6 arrives at QF Int at T3.
QF10 departs from QF Int at T3

This lounge was previously excluded from the Lounge pass program at one point.
I don’t know if they have changed that exclusion but worth checking with them.

Your daughter will remain airside at the International gates in PER. She will not clear immigration until she lands in MEL.

Just an FYI, if you plan to give both a go...

CX (plus a few other oneworld carriers) are known to print out "lounge invitations", this is often required for access to 3rd party lounges (like the House) but isn't when visiting oneworld carriers lounges.

There have been a few reports where people have been only able to access one lounge becuase they've had the voucher taken away at the first one, in this situation it makes sense to visit the house first or not to present the voucher to QF if visiting the QF one first.

Thanks for that @henrus a good point.
As SG thought we might check out QF first- that should work?

Hi,

I have two flights on Qanats, same day, different booking numbers
  • I have an economy flight from CNS (Cairns) to SYD (Sydney)
  • And on the same day a Business flight from SYD to SFO (San Fransisco)
Will they
  1. Check my luggage from CNS all the way to SFO?
  2. Give me Qantas lounge access in CNS?
  3. And which counter would I go up to when checking in in Cairns? :)
Thanks!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Unless one of your bookings is an award and the other is a revenue fare, then by the Qantas T&C they are not considered connecting tickets so:
  1. They won't check your luggage through, and you will need to collect it in Sydney, transport yourself between terminals with luggage, and checkin again.
  2. Unless you have status, as the tickets are not connected, then No.
  3. Domestic check in. You can try your luck with the International connections desk at Domestic, but the Qantas rules suggest they shouldn't help you.
If one of the tickets is an award, then they should check your luggage through and issue boarding passes, but your luck may vary. Lounge access may be able to be obtained then if you have the International J boarding pass - as long as they don't check the tickets (but you are unlikely to get the boarding pass).

If this was issues on the one PNR (and thus an actually connecting flight), then the answers would be
  1. Yes - and would issue you both boarding passes
  2. Yes - under the rules that the class of travel of the long haul flight it what governs lounge access
  3. Still Domestic terminal - but International transfers desks
