I couldn't find any information about lifetime Qantas Club membership on the Qantas website - is this still offered ?

Qantas finally downgraded me to (lifetime) Silver status after enjoying Platinum and then Gold for the past 8 years :( ... so I'm assessing what options I have now.

Ahh - I found that thread and scanned through it quickly (too long to read in detail) ... must have missed the details about the lifetime membership.

Thanks.

sim,

Get enough SC's for Life Time Gold and that will get you an equivalent to Life Time QC (until they change the rules) :!:

I am looking into the LTG Pit - currently < 350 SC's shy of that goal ... I should clean that up in a couple of weeks. :D

Happens when you credit them somewhere else.

I was very careful with my wording about not crediting to QF rather than not flying enough ;)

Interestingly I think if I had not credited flights to AA I would be sitting pretty close to LTG at the moment...

@serfty Have you made a decision on crediting to AA after that? Is you WP status going to be at risk?

WP not at risk - emerald benefits and all that ....

(There's little chance with my current travel patterns I'd score EXP with AA so WP will be first priority.)

PG may be at risk however ...

I had some AA flights credited to my AA acconut.

When i got home i send a fax as requested on the qantas website and still received the points + SC even though my AA number was printed on the tickets.

Given this thread is already registered, I thought I'd ask my question here....

Aside from my known / declared difficulties, I possess a QC Life Membership card.

If I don't make any Qantas flights, or present to any QC over the next three
( 3 ) years, is my Membership still safe?

Does anyone think, that QC Life Membership will be altered in the near future, to say, card holder must travel at least one QF leg each year, for example, in order to maintain Membership??

Any other thoughts about the way Qantas could alter the T&Cs of QC Life Membership??

regards,
GORDO

[In my view/IMHO:] This would not be lawful for QF to do. When you purchased QC Life Membership, you were buying just that. If they wanted to change the rules to that fundamental degree, they would have to offer to buy back your membership. This would be subject to your agreement. Consumer Protection laws would step in. The only way that your Life Qantas Club membership could be cancelled was if Qantas did an Ansett but I don't even want to go there.

What Qantas could do under terms and conditions is by stealth close more Qantas clubs (eg Darwin Airport International, Ayers Rock Airport etc etc) - this is legitimate as is not instaling them into new airports when they close old ones (eg the International Post Passport Control Adelaide Airport Terminal).

Your membership is good for life. However, and points in your account will be lost after three years of no activity. Any statement activity is good to keep the points active for another period.

No, I do not expect we will see any change to the original definition of "lifetime membership"
