Re: Another 747 problem.

Maybe he was worried that the car would break down between terminals? After all, doesn't Ford stand for Fixed Or Repaired Daily, and hence was worried about another connection mishap?

It may also have something to do with the car he normally drives.

Re: Another 747 problem.

Well... after poo-pooing a Falcon I don't know weather to thank you or spank you. How dare you rubbish falcons and engage in the age-old Australian car wars here on AFF

I'd have expected them to welcome a newly minted CL with a flourish and stump up for a CL65 at least. Or maybe a CLS for the extra doors if a CL proves impractical. ;)

Re: Another 747 problem.

It's funny - reminds me of an episode of Frasier where Frasier and his brother accidentally find out about a spa which is incredibly exclusive, members-only, invitation-only. They're determined to gain access, and eventually do so – and feel complete until they see what appears to be another door in the spa which they assume leads to an even more exclusive area, and suddenly that becomes the focus!

I love that episode. I think that they get in as Invited Members and then they aim to get through the Gold membership door which they finally do after much manipulation and then they see another door labelled 'Private'.

After a while the Private door is ajar and they rush through with only towels around their waists....

I won't spoil the ending for those who haven't seen it but I LMAO.

And I agree that tasting one lounge leads to wanting another and another etc etc

Re: Another 747 problem.

bossreggie,

Maybe they are considering elevating you to the lofty heights of CL. ;)

I would like to see boss reggie as a CL.

Let's us know how you get on mate[/QUOTE)
Some very knowledgeable fellows here-or merely psychic!

Always told it was Found On Rubbish Dump..
And congratulations Boss-being nice does pay off.

The general consensus used to be that you couldn't really achieve CL through flying - so has something changed? Is this aimed at shoring up support from teh super elite?

I also note that on my weekend flights the welcomed 'Chairman's Lounge, Qantas and One World frequent flyers.' Don't recall the Chairman's Loung bit before - but may hva e been a flight specific thing

I think flying may have some basis of such acknowledgement.

I mean to say, this particular trip was booked in First Class to BKK at short notice. Nothing discount there! (Although he did make his son fly J :p).

Spoiler here for anyone that is wondering.

Re: Another 747 problem.

Was sitting across from a QF Manager this afternoon up from MEL and was a little surprised with his attitude. I left the plane and he came down to the holding area where we wait for the bus to go to the Internationa terminal. I was paged and I was taken in a falcon!! (yuck) to the interntional terminal. I was apologised to and offered the earlier flight.

So LH offers a Porsche Cayenne or Mercedes-Benz S Class, Saudia offers a BMW 7 Series to and from the aircraft for F pax, and QF offers a Ford for CL? Shameful!

Perhaps 1W is aligning a new top tier; CL, CK, CR...

e.g. at BA - Executive Club - Conditions of use - British Airways
Invited Executive Club Gold Card holders who have earned at least 5,000 Tier Points in a membership year, or Premier Members, will be eligible to receive a Concorde Room Access Card. Concorde Room Access Cards will be valid upon receipt (at the point the member earns 5,000 Tier Points) until the expiry date shown on the card.

Technically they’ve chosen something Australian that’s big here. They could have a Ford or Holden available, a really souped up one perhaps (I don’t know which model that’d be), but I think it’s the Aussie aspect they’re looking for.

Of course it might’ve just been a bog standard car they had spare, who knows.

I think they’d do better by adding arrivals lounge access as a benefit and cleaning up the brand to be even more premium… so a top elite tier could be useful, but I doubt that’d come through 1W, just a partnership between the top airlines I’d expect.

It could have been worse, it might have been a CommonHore

Strictly speaking, neither of them are Australian. Having said that, from a marketing perspective, I think Holden has much more of a local flavour than Ford.

:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Not picking a side mind you... as I won't be caught dead buying a Fraud or a Hold-on, though I'd take a Lincoln over a Cadillac any day. :)

Re: Another 747 problem.

I am now waiting for my flight to BKK... Just want to get going!! I do note my boarding pass now clearly states "Chairmans Lounge". I guess that is a token "thank you" due to the delay in my flight?!?!

Congrats! Now you just need to change your profile, not WP no mo' :)
