LAX First lounge chaos

In the Qantas first class lounge at LAX tonight. There’s barely a seat. Kids running everywhere and no service. It’s like the Qantas Club in Melbourne on a Friday at 6pm. A disgrace. What a coughpy airline.

Was there last week ... the numbers were just about right.

The manager was at the front desk, dealing with the many unhappy guests. I told him as a P1 it was the worst lounge experience i could recall. He said it was his worst experience too!

Have been in the lounge as amaroo's pictures shows, normally midweek business trips and also been in the lounge at the end of school holidays with my family and many other travellers with their families. I travel out of MEL, SYD and ADL in the Monday morning and Friday night peak on a weekly basis so quite use to over crowded lounges.

As a fellow P1 I would assume that you would have become used to crowed lounges and accept bad experiences as "water off a duck's back".

Pretty unlucky I'd say as I've never had an issue in either lounge. As others have said it seems deserted when ever I'm there.

Did yo consider walking down the 25 m or so and seeing if the business lounge was the same?

I’m P1 thanks to code sharing on EK at every opportunity. Good intell that the QF lounge rabble is normal at peak times at LAX though. I’m used to this in domestic Qantas Club but it was a novelty for me in an F lounge.

Was in LAX Flounge on Jan15.
Busy, not quiet but...
No kids running around. Easy to get seat at table, easy to get shower
I’m sure it varies from quiet to chaotic.

But How does lounge activity correlate with quality of airline?

It doesn't, but it is part of the experience so I understand how some people combined it all in to an average opinion of Qantas, or any other airline for that matter.

What I will say is that Australians are (generally) pretty laid back with their kids etc, so throw a few in to a lounge and the noise can be amplified.

Heck I am sitting in the BNE VA lounge right now and a kid is jumping up and down on one of the seats like it's a playground. Parents seem content with their glass of wine and idly chatting without lifting a finger to point out the inappropriate behaviour. Kids will be kids, but not to the point of wearing/damaging the property of others...

I appreciate the OP and the subject posted on - the state of Qantas' lounges is a topic of wide interest on AFF. If AFFers don't post their experiences here, how do we know what's going on out there? If the F lounge at LAX is a zoo at certain times, then I'm happy to know before hand, and avoid it.

Its through posts like this that we eventually discovered the 'tip when shown to the shower' thing, right?

I may have lived a sheltered life, but I don't understand posts like this:

Just like you all those others in the lounge are entitled to be there, i don't like busy lounges either like anyone but they are not private suites after all. Maybe choose another lounge like the AA one or this if you require privacy: Home - The Private Suite

This sounds like the SIN Qantas lounges both old and new. Too many kids running aroung unsupervised while their parents are too busy chatting and having a drink or three.

That's not a good thing and one of the reasons I stopped visiting the SIN Qantas lounge many years ago.

Can't agree with you there . I don't think the OP was wanting 'privacy', just a decent F lounge experience, as would I. I mean, that's why we go to Flounges (if entitled to) isn't it? A superior experience than regular lounges or out in the concourse.

Expectations may include, relaxation, decent food & bev and maybe some service - it seems they weren't on offer due to crowding. Airlines who run their lounges can, and do manage such as issues such as overcrowding, all the time.

I'm just not getting the negative - and facetious - reactions to the OP.
