Lack of curtains separating Business and Economy on 737

Does anyone know the reason Qantas decided to remove the curtains between Business and Economy on the 737 during the refit a few years ago?

To me it loses a lot of the exclusivity of being in Business and having economy passengers walk through the cabin to get to the toilet can become annoying, especially on the longer flights to DPS or to Darwin.

Off the top of my head, i cant think of any reason to get rid of it.

First world problems i know, i just wanted to know the reason behind it.

Cheers.

Haven't flown VA in years but do they still have the rope that goes across once the flight is in cruise? I've always thought that was simple and effective and looked fairly elegant. Can't imagine that would add much weight (and therefore fuel cost) to the aircraft either.

Yes, and the rope generally gets used unlike on Qantas where in recent years more often than not it was kept clipped up for the entire flight to allow easy access.

Looks more modern.
No curtain flapping around pax in Row 4.
Easier for the FAs.

It's a little bit of extra weight and something else to clean?

Frankly I could care less. If some really want to be set apart from the hoi poloi then maybe go private? IMHO.

There's very little that's exclusive about domestic J in any part of the world these days

aka, The Magic Rope of Exclusivity.

I would prefer curtains as I think if people can see the forward cabin, they tend to use the J toilets or at least cough online about how unfair it is that they cant use the forward toilet. Bonus points for those that claim its "discrimination" that the forward toilets are for J pax only.

But then, it is just a cheap looking piece of white rope. If they wanted to go all out, it should be red velvet covered, with a chrome stand either side

Well that's where the bins are.
LOL thats true the bin and toilet it seems used by everyone from economy because it must somehow be different then those at the back. I don't like it when they start lining up and have their backside in your face. As a business class customer I do want some privacy exclusivity.
