Congratulations, I'll just sit back and watch as Jetstar changes dates/times
of their international schedules. Look what happened when they started on the domestic routes.

Booked to HKT for $360 return (plus $70 for food and PTV). I've been tryin for Vietnam but finding flights is very very difficult and the site is struggling badly. The dates I picked for HKT sold out 10 minutes after I did it, so I was lucky!

For some reasons flights from SYD - Osaka don't seem to be coming up at all.

Hopefully there will be a similar sale for HNL and JQ can get their site ready for it.

Yeah, once again an airline decides to have a massive sale (and this one was massive looking at various factors) yet doesn't have the infrastructure to support the sale.

Hmmm. More joy and fun from the Qantas IT team perhaps?

While I looked at the fares on offer, nothing really excited my interest. Good deals, but I want Jetstar to prove itself before I'll fly them internationally. There are certain carriers I trust on startup flights, and Jetstar isn't one of them!

I'm surprised that they are offering Starclass. Surely this will undermine sales of QF J fares, at least to BKK?

Will Qantas be visiting BKK in 2 years time?...

Looks like a good option when considering a couple of Finnair flights nested in there and some christmas shopping, especially when comming from Brisbane. BA WT+ will suffer more than QF J here.

Did a few dummy bookings yesterday, good to see the seat map option, how long will it be before QF do the same when it comes to selecting seats, noticed that they were blocking exit and forward seats on the cheap fare.

The actual Starclass fare are showing up as "StarClass Promo", so I guess there will be an increase sooner or later.

I don't think it will affect it too much. I suspect the majority of QF J loads between SYD and BKK are people continuing on to LHR. And those specifically buying J fares to BKK are likely to continue to do so for the extra QF J service features including Skybeds, Food/Wine etc. JQ StarClass is more likely to attract some people who would otherwise be using QF Economy or BA WT+ fares on that route.

Its almost like giving the Qantas Group an Economy Plus service to some destinations.

I know many of us will chose a flight/airline/fare based on FF earnings, but I feel we are not in the majority of QF's or JQ's customer base. For the majority of people the FF points and status credits are the cream after they make their flight decision based on price/value/service/schedule.

Sales fares are fine, but has anyone noticed the "everyday" fares?

MEL-BKK by the time you throw in two meals & entertainment is $926. Can currently purchase a fare on Thai for $840 on Thai (including taxes) and get 5,000 UA, Thai or Krisflyer miles thrown in with the bargain.

No. I still can't get into the website properly. Only thing "working" is flight search (which brings up flight not found all the time) and the jetstar shop

This is what you get for Star Class:
Even More Comfort

StarClass, Jetstar's premium cabin, will be available on all international Jetstar services operated by the Airbus A330 and will offer a total package experience for the traveller who wants more space, and more comfort for a long trip. The StarClass cabin will offer 38 leather-covered seats, each with a 38-inch seat pitch giving you more room to move. All seats will be equipped with in-seat power, allowing passengers to plug in a laptop or recharge personal music players.

Inflight service

StarClass passengers will have meals, beverages and a snack bar included as part of the StarClass personalised service. Passengers also have access to an amenity kit, blanket and pillow as well as entertainment options which include audio channels and a personal video-on-demand unit featuring a range of new release movies, TV shows, music videos and kids' programmes.

At the airport

In order to add to the airport experience, StarClass passengers will have priority check-in and a checked baggage allowance of 30kg, in addition to their carry-on luggage allowance. After check-in, StarClass passengers will have access to the Qantas Club lounges while waiting for their priority boarding. Qantas Frequent Flyer members travelling on StarClass tickets will earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points and Status Credits.
I note the StarClass promotional fare is NOT refundable, but flights & times be changed via the Web at no cost.

Except for a $30 fine, the "NonPromotional" StarClass fare will be refundable.

Star Class earns FF points...but I do not know ihow many SCs it gets per segment.

with me I am an opportunistic traveller...oncea Platinum with Ansett, but I do not fly much any more.

But I still lovetravelling recreationally and hence my nic..by plane, yacht etc....it is the journey I enjoy.

My main rationale is to travel as much as I can and if I can obtain the best deal possible by various ways this gives me more journeys. i will grab FF points when I can...but in this case it wasa great deal to scarifice points and comfort fora really cheap price.

In my acse also I am flying over school holidays in March which is also easter..and havea departure date on last day of School term..and return on the frirst day of next term.

So I would noramlly have to pay PEAK peak rates...If you could get a seat.

Normally I would not fly then as I could improve my travel ratio by travelling at a different time.

This has allowed me to get some travel cream, but not FF cream when I would normally be staying home.

Still the free AMEX card will give me 2700 points and free travel insurance so not all is lost :)

I notice that the QP will have more traffic now, less exclusive to existing QF members... ...being WP it will not bother me on international flights, but the domestic QP's other than Melbourne will also have incresed PAX.

All good for the JQ PAX I suppose.

I also note they intend to use the four ex Qantas 332's. Ok for day flights like MEL-BKK, but the overnight return BKK-MEL might be a tad less comfortable.

Full SC's and booking bonus equivalent to Qantas J class:
^ Qantas Frequent Flyers travelling on a Jetstar (JQ) JetFlex or StarClass fare will earn equivalent points per mile and Status Credits as earned on Qantas flights. JetFlex fares earn at the full economy level. StarClass fares earn at he full business level.
More here in the Qantas Forum: Jetstar International flights -- fares are loaded at www.jetstar.com.

No worse than overnight flights that QF use 767's on (e.g. HKG-PER soon)

I think I would prefer a QF 767-300 with 1x2x2 config Dreamtime Seats at 50" pitch over a JQ A330-200 with 2x3x2 millennium Seats an 40" pitch.
