For the "never beens", the more interesting question then is, let's say you've been gifted a First or business ticket, or you've decided to spend all of your miles accumulated through hundreds of discount economy tickets for that rare first or business ticket. Do you sleep on the plane or stay awake the whole way to experience every second of it?
First couple of times long haul J, I stayed up the whole time and didn't miss a second, after a couple of flights I then started to sleep a little bit (it is a skyBED after all), then I started treating them as normal flights, albeit very comfortable normal flights.
i'm another that hasn't flown anything except Y. it doesn't matter domestically, 3-4 hours isn't worth paying the extra for (plus company travel policy is Y). international is the killer. i guess i know that once i fly J the first time it'll be extremely hard (if not impossible) to go back to international Y. just did a quick tally and i think i've done about 34 7+ hour sectors in Y. not necessarily fun when you're 6'5, but for me travel is worth it. and i've been fortunate to be very lucky with exit-row seatingthanks to this website my next europe trip will be in J.. points balance accruing nicely.
Yes, once you know what the pointy end is like, it is really hard walking past them knowing what they getting compared to what you're in for over the next 14 or so hours
whY these days is a breeze........the days of the big screen hanging from the ceiling are long gone.
Not quite, there are still a few long haul flights which still run with the big screen. Luckily they are becoming pretty rare.
