The privileges for Emirates new top-tier Skywards Platinum level have been revealed, and they include "access for the cardholder and one guest to the Emirates First Class lounge in Dubai".

Emirates reveals perks for new Skywards frequent flyer top tier - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

On one hand you might think "Great, this will be just like QFF Platinum, even if you're flying in economy an EK Platinum can get into the Emirates first class lounge", and hopefully that's the case.

BUT, and maybe I am being an alarmist, EK hasn't said if this does cover 'any class of travel' such as economy. Maybe a Skywards Platinum will need to be in business class to get into the first class lounge, because to open this right up to every EK Platinum might just be unacceptable.

If so, then Qantas has always talked about their products 'aligning' under the QF-EK partnership.

What if QF uses this as an opportunity to declare that Platinums can only use the Qantas First Class lounge if they are in business or premium economy, but not economy?

The QF First Class lounge is getting more and more crowded these days, and this would certainly fix that!

It does not really need to screw up Oneworld entitlements.

Allow Oneworld Emeralds to access Qantas First lounge but exclude Qantas Oneworld Emeralds.

150k! Wow, I would have thought 100k would be a more realistic level.

Can I say something about speculative equine excrement?

Was it not stated by QF that whilst aligning the FF programmes where their was a difference in benifits it had ben agreed that the higher benifit would then become the standard for both parties?

Given this then it highly unlikely that a WP travelling in Y would be turned away from the EK F lounge

or 'enhance' WP to be OWS and SG to OWR the same as CX does with MPC tiers.....

(did lightning just roll in? maybe this whole thread needs to be locked and deleted....)

They don't exclude it either. The Qantas access policy to the International First lounge also states Platinum is enough. It doesn't say that economy is allowed either (although there maybe somethng written about it somewhere)

I think at this stage that it is unnecessary worrying. In the future perhaps it may become a concern...

I think the partner gold and guaranteed biz class revenue earn is more interesting.

Does that mean that WP will now get Partner Gold if so what will the options now be at 2400 status credits?

But as in another post lets wait and see specilly with the commitment nothing will go backwards and the highest standard will become the common standard for both.

Well if they can be believed , maybe it will

The only thing I see possibly happening is Qantas raising the WP/SG/PS qualification bar ...

I think, QF WP+PG will gain access to EK F lounges, anything less will only have OWE benefits. Therefore a WP traveling to LHR in anything less than F for example, will have access to QF F lounge in SYD, Biz Lounge in DXB and BA/QF/AA F lounges in LHR.

But a WP+PG will have access to all lounges irrespective of travel class.

or...

QF WP+PG will be the new "SC earn" required to hit WP.... and it will be sold to us as another "enhancement"

The title of this thread, which came to my attention on the AFF twitter feed, nearly made my spine snap such was my physical reaction!

That did cross my mind. And I am also not absolutely certain what the biz class seat earn actually mean

Or will WP be more like EK Gold. ?

At the end of the day, if you want to use a biz class or f class lounge , you may just have to fly biz class or F class

I'm feeling very nervous about the next "enhancement " from QFF and not in a good way !
Fortunately for me I will get WP + PG this year but may be looking to AAnother program soon

I won't argue the rights and wrongs in this particular case, but I've long since ceased treating anything QF say as being gospel. All you need to do is go over the backdowns/reversals of the recent past.

They are not to be trusted, and that loss of trust is the worst thing they have created.

Qantas may magically go out of business in a week too. Rendering your QFWP moot.
